I remember when flowers were the perfect anniversary gift.
I love flowers but I’m not disappointed that I didn’t get them this year. It seems NY and I are caught up in the world of high-tech.
A few weeks back our grandson Austin was riding in the backseat of the car. With his MP3 player plugged into his ears he was loudly telling us about each song as he listened. Of course it didn’t take him long to plug his player into the car and instruct NY on how to set the radio station so his music would play out of the car’s speakers. We were cruising along when it occurred to us that our 7 year old grandson had control of the music we were listening to. Never one to miss anything, Austin quickly replied, “And, I have control of the volume too” as he cranked the music to “blare”. What fun we had singing and car dancing to songs we knew and music we didn’t know. I think perhaps Austin saw a side to ‘grandma
& DD he wasn’t quite familiar with. So went our first introduction to the MP3 player. I knew then and there we each had to have one. I thought the next gift giving event would be the perfect time to present NY with his Brand New Shiny Black MP3 player.

Happy Anniversary!
I shopped online until I found what I thought was the perfect one. I printed out the information and a photo and drove to my local “buy anything electronic here” store. Of course the one I had set my heart on was out of stock. A sales clerk tried hard to sell me cute little fluorescent colored ones but I explained how it had to be all black. She then proudly held up a black one with bright lime green control buttons. I again explained that it had to be ALL black. My NY doesn’t do flashy colors. A bit disgruntled she left me to search on my own. I saw a young man working the area and explained my dilemma. He walked right over to a shelf and handed me the cute little Sansa c240. Not one to relish shopping, I quickly handed the player to Kennedy who was shopping with me. We found the necessary accessories, paid our way out the door and Voila…NY is now hi-tech with his own MP3 player.
A few days later a package arrived in the mail. I thought it was the baby buggy I bought for Kennedy on eBay. Thinking it wasn’t big enough to be the buggy, and with much curiosity, I opened the box to find NY’s anniversary gift to me.
It was a Kodak Easy Share Digital Picture Frame and I absolutely love it!
I had shown NY a similar version on a friend’s blog in May. With much determination, he spent hours searching her blog page by page until he found the picture frame post. (Hours because one cannot search a blog without reading each and every posting… and then there’s that “one blog leads to another blog” thing. Needless to say, I’m thrilled with my Brand New Shiny Black digital Picture Frame. Now I need only learn how to use all the different features.
I think a frame such as this would be the perfect gift for NY’s mom, pre-loaded with family photos of all 6 children, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

I know you will always love and enjoy your tech gift! My frame is on every day and I never get tired of it. NY should have just called me and spared himself the wild ride of my blog.
