President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97. President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995. The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside. A successor is not expected to be formally chosen by the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles until after President Hinckley’s funeral within the next few days.
I’m so very sad. Selfishly so, but still so sad. I have always absolutely loved and adored the Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley. He always has such a strong sense of humor that always brought a smile to my face and my heart and he could always make me laugh. He has always had an intense devotion to his calling as President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.

I am so sad for me and the world, yet rejoice to think of President and Sister Hinkley’s reunion. It had to be the sweetest reunion ever. I just cry and cry to think of it.

I am not LDS, but I always really enjoyed seeing Hinckley in various interviews (Larry King, Mike Wallace, etc). What a kind and gentle soul! And rather “with it” considering his advanced age. What a loss, indeed.
