When most of us think of Disneyland, Mickey Mouse comes to mind. When you walk into Disneyland one of the first things you see is Mickey Mouse. Whether it’s his head formed from flowers or the “real” Mickey walking down Main Street; Mickey is everywhere.
I didn’t know until I found the book, “Disneyland’s Hidden Mickeys ~ A Field Guide to Disneyland Resort’s Best Kept Secrets”.
*A hidden Mickey is “a partial or complete image of Mickey Mouse that has been designed to blend into the surroundings in such a way that its presence is not immediately obvious. From Mickey’s face peering out from the ranches of a tree on a ceramic panel to the classic outline of Mickey’s head and ears on the saddle of a carousel horse.
Oh My Gosh!
What an absolute kick!
NY and I spent the day at Disneyland on a scavenger hunt of ‘Hidden Mickeys.’ We had so much fun. We simply followed the book’s clue from one hidden Mickey to another. The Disneyland Resort book is divided into three Scaventure Hunts: Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney and Resort Hotel.
We chose to “hunt” in Disneyland and California Adventure. Some of the Mickeys are easy to find and some are very challenging.
Clue 1: “As soon as you pass through the entrance turnstile, look around for a classic Mickey”
If that’s a little too vague, there are hints.
Hint 1: As soon as you enter Disneyland, turn around and spot the classic Mickey speaker grid. (There’s more to it but I’m not going to spoil your hunt!!)
There are Hidden Mickeys everywhere! You may have spotted one before and then there are places you’d never think to look.
The Intrepid Traveler has a delightful selection of books including the ‘Hidden Mickey’ books.

there's a site called FindingMickey.com that also compiles photos and lists of Disneyland Hidden Mickeys.
