When our daughter was five years old she was diagnosed with the neuro-muscular disease Myasthenia Gravis. Long before and leading up to the diagnosis there were multiple trips to the emergency room, as well as enumerable doctor appointments and ultimately a 5 week stay in our local Children’s Hospital. It was a difficult time not knowing what the future held for our sweet little girl. Right now, at this very moment, there are many, many families going through similar experiences. Britt’s disease was neuro-muscular and non-curable. There wasn’t much we could do for Britt except teach her how to manage her Myasthenia Gravis.
Childhood obesity is another matter entirely. It’s preventable! The national CDC has stated that childhood obesity has tripled in the last 30 years. Tripled! We could probably make a long list of reasons why, but it may be children today don’t physically move about as much as kids did 10, 20 and 30 years ago. Primrose Schools has joined forces with Children’s Miracle Network for a Family Dance-Off. It’s easy to participate and it’s fun! It seems as if children are born with rhythm. Many are moving to the beat of music before they can even walk. You’ve probably not met a child who didn’t like music of some kind or another.
So … gather your family together, turn on your favorite music, create some new dance moves, and dance your way into the Primrose Schools Family Dance-off! All while burning calories and getting the kids to enjoy some physical activity. Not only will everyone have fun, you could also win $5,000! And even more importantly … you could win a $30,000 dollar donation to your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital!! How’s that for philanthropy?!
We’d love to see your family dancing the day or night away!! Upload a video of your best moves by March 19, 2011 for your chance to win and help a great cause.
No monetary compensation was provided for this post however we did receive a Flip Video Camera to film our Family Dance-off through ‘Mom Select’. All thoughts and opinions expressed are our own.
