Almost thirty-two years ago when I gave birth to my second child, my doctor told me I should hire a diaper service to pick up the used diapers while delivering a batch of clean ones. I explained that a diaper service wasn’t in our budget. His reply was simple: “Time is money.” Now that I’m a bit older and wiser I’ve learned that time does not stand still or stop for anyone or anything. And I’m not about to miss a precicous moment with my husband or grandchildren. But while I don’t have to worry about diapers anymore, I do worry about clean floors. In fact, clean floors are somewhat of an obsession with me. Sad huh? Have you ever dreamed of having little fairies come in and tend to your chores while you’re sleeping? How about day dreaming your house will be all vacuumed and clean when you get home? I have. And, with a Neato robot vacuum by dream has come true!
I’ve tried to find the easiest and quickest way to vacuum with just about every kind of vacuum you can imagine. I’ve even tried one or two robotic sweepers as well. The robotic floor sweepers are just that; sweepers. They sweep up the dirt and crumbs but … they don’t vacuum.
The Neato is a true robotic vacuum. And let me say this … the Neato is awesome. Simply awesome. We’ve had ours for several months and it’s part of the family now. It resides in an area of the living room/dining room and comes to life as scheduled, all on its own.
Neato is simple to use. Push one button and you’re vacuuming your house vicariously through Neato. The first thing the Neato does is slowly spin around using a laser to map out the the most efficient way to vacuum the room. Then it goes along the paremeter carefully avoiding furniture and other objects. The Neato finishes each room with a straight-line back and forth pattern not missing anything. I’ve watched it vacuum many times and I’m still amazed how it knows exactly where it’s been and where to go next.
Neato vacuums all floor types. It also easily goes from tile to carpet and back again. Our formal living room / dining room is quite large and Neato vacuums it as two separate rooms. It scans the living room and vacuums and then goes onto the dining room. The reason has to do with the way we have the furniture arranged. I think perhaps Neato sees the sofa and love seat as a wall or divider.
Neato vacuums the kitchen and eating area as two separate rooms also. I’m sure it’s because of the island in the center of the kitchen. I really don’t care how it does it as long as it does a good job. And it does an excellent job!
