Earlier this month we took a spur of the moment trip to London. I had yet to visit London so NY added a trip to his schedule. We invited our youngest son Todd to go with us. We had a fabulous time and packed in as much sight-seeing as we could in the short time we were there.
After checking into our hotel we took an Underground train on the District Line from Gloucester Road Station to Victoria Station.
We saw Big Ben and walked across the Westminster Bridge over the River Thames.
After walking by the London Eye and visiting a local Christmas Fair we took the Underground to a station near Buckingham Palace.
We went with a late dinner of Fish & Chips at the Cromwell Tavern in our hotel. Oh so good!
We slept as much as we could before heading out early the next morning. I just had to check out the ‘telly’ in one of London’s famous red telephone phone boxes (or kiosks).
The London Natural History Museum was gorgeous at sunrise …
… as was Round Pond in Kensington Gardens and the majestic swans swimming about.
I could easily live at Kensington Palace. I actually like it better than Buckingham Palace!
Todd finished the trip with fresh fruit and warm chocolate chip cookies right before landing back home in Los Angeles.
How about you? Are you game for last minute trips or do you like/need time to plan?

Oh yes, it doesn’t matter how close or how far from home, I love to travel! Hubs and I are talking about going over to visit the Grand Canyon sometime soon… but I’d MUCH prefer London! 🙂 Happy Friday to you!

Oh Jennifer … Grand Cayman is gorgeous and Sting Ray City is an absolute must! It’s truly incredible when the sting rays slide around your legs much like a welcoming cat does. ;D Happy travels!

I am defiantly a planner. I don’t even go to the grocery store without a full day to plan it so a big trip would take weeks.

That looks so fun! I’m game for last minute stuff. Although with four kids it rarely happens. 🙂

Sure I would be game, but the likely hood for that to happen would be nil. Haha

Wow. What a great visit.
I’d love to see ALL of those! Look at that beautiful swan!
Happy Holidays!

If I had the opportunity to go on a last-minute trip to somewhere like London, you BET I’d be packing faster than I ever have before. 😉 I love spontaneity like that…hubby’s not that spontaneous, but I’m working on training him to be more so. 😉 Um, will you adopt me so I can tag along on your next trip, pretty please? 😉

I am a big planner and last minute things can stress me out. Still we have done quick trips and I did the SheStreams NYC one within 2 days 🙂 And I agree with others – I want to be your kiddo.
