Tis the season for baking! This includes cookies and baked goods to enjoy and share as gifts. One of our traditions is baking and decorating Sugar Cookies.

5 cups flour
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-9 minutes
Add 3/4 cup butter to a large mixing bowl.
Add 3/4 cup shortening.
Add 2 cups granulated sugar.
Add 4 eggs.
Add 1 teaspoon pure vanilla and 1 teaspoon lemon extract and mix well.
Add the flour one cup at a time.
Roll out the dough adding flour as necessary to keep it from sticking to the mat or table.
Cut with your favorite cookie cutters.
The cookies can bake on a cookie sheet covered with a Silpat mat or parchment paper.
Bake for 8 – 9 minutes at 375 degrees … until light brown.
Slide parchment paper with cookies onto a cooling rack.
