When a child first learns to read it seems they just can’t get enough of practicing their new learned skill. They read signs. They read labels. They read any group of letters they encounter. And they read books.
Our grandchildren are no different. They love to read. And they have loved stories since the get go. They loved to hear stories, and then to tell stories, and now to read stories themselves! (Even though they can read, they still enjoy being read to.)
Especially stories that pique their imaginations as well as test their reading skills. And what better way than to read a story about a monster!
Marlow and the Monster, written and illustrated by Sharon Cramer, is just such a book. It not only captivated our grands attention, but challenged their reading skills. The illustrations are detailed and unique. The grands enjoyed looking for things they could ‘find’ in the drawings. And the monster is colorful! Literally, very colorful
The main character, Marlow, has a vivid imagination. He seems to see what others around him don’t. His story is whimsical and entertaining. It’s a fairly quick read and our grands have enjoyed reading it over and over again. Your little one more than likely will too.
