My kids might or might not tell you I’m a bit germaphobic. Not a full-blown germaphob equipped with a surgical mask (although I have been known to wear them on planes. Rarely mind you!) Not totally like the fictional television character ‘Monk’ although it’s surprising how much ‘Monk’ we all probably have in us. But I am “that” person who walks around hotel rooms with my can of LYSOL Disinfectant Spray as soon as I walk in the door. I used up over 4 cans won’t tell you how many cans I went through during our cross country road trip. I also tend to sanitize my bathroom after our tween grandson and his friends have run amuck a day or two. But I also might deny ever admitting to that. *wink*
Needless to say, I’m excited about Healthing. Over the top excited! What an extrodinary concept! It’s not just about having a clean home, it’s about having a healthy home. Healthing is the extension of LYSOL and its Mission for Health. It’s about the motivation behind the creation of LYSOL products that kill 99.9 percent of germs.
We need to know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting. While we know cleaning and organizing is important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses. I can’t even put into words how important disinfecting is to me.
LYSOL isn’t just about their products. LYSOL is educating communities about Healthing. They’re proud to have partnered with numerous groups and Centers of the CDC in an effort to help promote health and hygiene both in the U.S. and around the world. LYSOL has also connected with 65,000 schools to promote healthy habits and good hygiene. (Good hygiene … remember those tween boys I mentioned?) The LYSOL Healthing educational programs are teaching 50% of new moms care for their newborns. They’re also working with the National PTA, the Global Hygiene Council and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. I’m impressed!
I remember all the damage Hurricane Sandy left in her wake last October. Especially the YMCA in Westport, Connecticut, where the damage was quite severe. I realized the impact the closure of the YMCA had on the local community. That’s why I was happy to read about LYSOL and television personality Giuliana Rancic working together to visit YMCAs and demonstrate Healthing in action. At select YMCA locations, LYSOL will provide people with hands-on education about the products and steps required to practice improved hygiene habits in their own home. LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the local YMCAs, along with the donation of a one-year membership to a deserving family. Healthing shows me that LYSOL really cares!
Be sure to check out the clever Healthing guidebook and follow LYSOL on Facebook. So, are you cleaning or are you Healthing your home?
I participated in this campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for LYSOL®. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
