We can be a little particular when eating out. Good food. Friendly service. Not too much too ask for, right?! We’d like to share some of our favorite places to eat.
Let’s eat!!
We learned about Vallee d’ Brume from our youngest son. He’s all grown up and living on his own. We meet up with him as often as we can for lunch. His first choice of places to dine is almost always Vallee d’ Brume. And with very good reason. The food is delicious. The little restaurant is delightful and full of character. And the owner and wait staff are just plain fabulous!
Their speciality is the pastries. All are simply delectable. (Not that we’ve tried them all. Or have we?!) But the macarons are to die for!
Old Town Temecula is full of antique shops as well as history. And smack in the middle of it all is The Bank. Mexican food at its best! Many years ago The Bank was actually just that…the town bank. Construction on The Bank building began in 1913 and took about a year to complete. The first bank robbery that anyone can remember in the history of Riverside County took place at this very bank.
The original safe is still intact. But instead of providing a safe haven for any cash … it provides a quiet dining area. The food is authentic Mexican fare and is 100% delicious.
I think most everyone in our valley thinks fine dining when they hear the name D’Canters. Because that’s what it is. But not all dressed to the nines with jacket & tie fine dining. We’re talking out right ‘five star’ quality dining but sans the stuffed shirt atmosphere.
There are a few menu items I wouldn’t even think of ordering. And not because I’m almost virtually a vegetarian. NY however, is always ready to give almost everything a go. His world travels have made him more adventurous when it comes to trying out of the ordinary dishes. And if you want the to-die-for Chocolate Ganache Lava Cake, order it before anything else so it’s ready when you are after the meal. D’Canters makes it fresh and serves it right out of the oven!
Who doesn’t like Italian? And fresh Italian at that! Tresino’s is a family owned and operated restaurant that you don’t have to go all the way to Italy to enjoy authentic Italian food. The menu includes pastas, pizzas, anti-pasta, grilled items and desserts.
Dine in the cozy atmosphere inside or outside on the open air patio. The food is the same and the service is excellent!
I’ve been eating Freddy’s Tacos since before it actually opened 20 years ago. Our children grew up with Freddy. All the praise our children gave my cooking went right out the window after they had their first bite of Gloria’s (Freddy’s mom) authentic Mexican fare! Right. Out. The. Window!
Freddy’s is a counter service taco joint that whips up breakfast, lunch and dinner all while you watch and wait. Good food. Good service. It’s as simple as that. We usually choose the famous pork, chicken or shredded beef soft tacos. And the tamales? Gloria had me with her tamales the first time I met her!
Annie’s Cafe may very well be one of the best known restaurants in our valley. They’ve even been featured on the Los Angeles KTLA television network! Annie’s specialty is breakfast. If you show up for dinner, you’ll be out of luck. Annie’s is only open for breakfast and lunch. So be there by 3pm if you don’t want to miss out on this amazing experience.
Expect a crowd and expect great food. There’s a hall (literally) of fame … photos of the regular customers. You’re likely to witness the welcome dance for new patrons. And don’t be surprised to hear a delightful British accent or two.
Peony is what Chinese food should taste like. Oh so good! From the House Fried Rice to the House Chicken or Beef, Peony is delicious in every sense imaginable. Peony is one of our family favorites from the littlest little to grandma and grandpa. Choose between take out or quick counter service and the dining room. It’s up to you. Just don’t forget your appetite.
Everyone has a go-to favorite place to eat out. Ours is Richie’s Real American Diner, better known as Richie’s. It may be the 1950’s atmosphere and with music to rock to. It could even be the darling staff that’s always beyond friendly. And the food? Just take a whiff of the BBQ as you enter the front doors.
Much to the delight of our family, we’ve ordered the Take Home BBQ Picnic Pak more than once. Perfect for any occasion. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, we’ve eaten it all. At Richie’s you’ll find good old fashioned soda fountain Milk Shakes and Root Beer Floats. Southern Sweet Potato Pancakes and Biscuits and Gravy. Chef’s Salad, Old Fashioned Pot Roast, Chicken Walnut Salad Sandwich and … well, think real American diner fare! Richie’s has something for everyone.
Choose any of our favorite restaurants for your next meal out and we know you’re going to enjoy yourself!
