I’ve read every single one of the Nancy Drew books. As a young child I would receive new books for both my birthday and Christmas. I was always excited to open the book cover in anticipation of solving the newest mystery with Nancy. Our ten-year old grandson is an avid reader of mystery and adventure too. He is loving the Travels with Gannon & Wyatt adventure books.
“In the tradition of the historic journals kept by explorers such as Lewis and Clark, Dr. David Livingstone, and Captain James Cook, comes the fictional adventure book series Travels with Gannon and Wyatt. From Africa to the South Pacific, these twin brothers have traveled to all corners of the globe. The journals, photographs and video compiled on their real-life expeditions provide the foundation for this action-packed educational series.” (from the Travels with Gannon & Wyatt Adventure website)
Travels with Gannon & Wyatt are an action-packed middle-grade series that follow the twin brothers as they travel the world. Written in journal form, the reader steps into the brother’s shoes as if they’re experiencing everything themselves. And the photographs bring the adventures to life with incredible detail. The twin brothers have been traveling their entire lives. They actually took their first plane flight before they could even crawl. Traveling the globe has given them the opportunity to learn and live life to the fullest. And that’s the wonderful thing about the books, the young readers are whisked off to explore exotic locations all the while learning about world geography, cultures and wildlife.
As a family, we spend several days a month at the San Diego Safari Park. We hike about watching the wild animals and dream of the safari we will all go on one day in the future. Reading Travels with Gannon & Wyatt ‘Botswana’ brought many of our dreams to life. We tracked a lioness and her cubs while encountering elephants, rhinos, cape buffalos and leopards.
- The Travels with Gannon & Wyatt series include:
- Botswana (May 2013)
- Great Bear Rainforest (October 2013)
- and Egypt (January 2014)
Winner of the ‘National Outdoor Book Award’ … Travels with Gannon & Wyatt are exciting stories that keep a child’s attention and educates them at the same time. It doesn’t get much better than that!
