As a teenager I spent many a summer day lying in the sun on the beach, when not playing in the surf. I loved playing in the white water of the breaking waves at Divers Cove in Laguna Beach. This week we took our youngest grandchildren to that very cove. We hiked down the stairs and walked along the cool sand while the littles spied one marine critter after another in the tide pools. I’m here to tell you, tide pools are a wonder. A wonder of nature that can totally encompass the curiosity of a child. All children … young and old!

Love exploring tide pools, there can be so much life in them. Thanks for sharing your great picture.
Cathi says
Thanks so much for stopping by Sean. We had so much fun with the grands at the tide pools. When our children were young, we planned our beach days around the tide table. That’s how much our kids loved exploring! 🙂 Cathi

Hi Sakura! Sometimes I think our grandkids think we were never actually kids. They always seem surprised when tell a story or take them somewhere we went as kids. Ha!

I love examining tidal pools. You can find so many cool things in them.

I was surprised that Cody was most in awe of the sea anemones Heather. I thought he’d go for the tiny hermit crabs. 🙂

I agree! Wonder after wonder. Did they convince you to take any treasures home? We always end up with a (slightly stinky) pail full of shells and rocks that are far too valuable to leave behind.
Cathi says
Actually … I picked up a shell and handed to Grandpa. cody quickly told us that he had read a sign stating we couldn’t take anything from the beach. We smiled and dropped the shell. Ha! Smart boy that Cody! 😉
