The wonderful thing about having annual passes is being able to enjoy Disneyland and California Adventure at our leisure. Even if only for a short (or long) time. We rode the Disneyland Railroad to New Orleans Square. Not because we were tired of walking but because it’s one of our favorite attractions. Disney is all about the magic. The Disneyland Railroad takes us back to an almost forgotten era and brings it alive again. The Main Street USA train station is a perfect example of one of those bygone eras. We were heading out for dinner and what better way to do so than with the Disneyland Railroad and Cafe Orleans!
Disney spares no attention to detail in the turn-of-the-century train station or along the track as one rides around the park.
While waiting for the train to arrive we sat and looked out over California Adventure’s Grizzly Mountain and…
… The Hollywood Tower of Terror.
There are four stops (Main Street USA, New Orleans Square, Toon Town, and Tomorrowland), with Main Street located directly inside the entrance to the park.
We decided to have dinner at the Cafe Orleans which is located next to Pirates of the Caribbean and on the shore of the Rivers of America. Not only is the food delicious but it’s also an awesome place to view the nighttime show Fantasmic!
Cafe Orleans serves food with a French flair including gumbo, salmon salad, crepes and their famous Monte Cristo sandwiches. We had a craving for the blackened chicken Caesar Salad and onion soup. Both were out of this world good! We finished dinner with Mickey Mouse shaped beignets. Again, so good!
So … when you go to the Disney parks … is it for the food or the attractions?
