Brugmansia is a genus of seven species of poisonous flowering plants in the Solanaceae family. The large sun loving, fast growing, scented flowers give way to their common name of Angels Trumpets. We find it interesting that such beauty is also poisonous.

Thanks Joyce! I have to wonder how the poison is spread. Touching? Eating? Smelling? Hmmmm……
Happy WW!

Lovely blooms. They look like they would be fragile, in danger of breaking off.
Cathi says

These are such beautiful flowers. I have a friend who has a front garden with a dozen or more of these huge glorious plants.
Cathi says
Really CommonWeeder? Has your friend verified that they really are poisonous? I’m still holding out hope that they’re not. *wink*
Happy WW!

Deadly beauty. Now there’s a combination of which one should be wary. And not just because it’s scary.

Kirsten says
These are beautiful! I had no idea they were poisonous. Great shot!
Cathi says
We didn’t know they were poisonous either Kirsten. Especially with them growing at the San Diego Safari Park. But I suppose the animals are smarter than we are when it comes to vegetation. We’d love to grow them in our yard but with grandkids and grand-dogs it’s a scary thought. For now we enjoy them at the Safari Park.
Happy WW!

Such pretty blooms!
Thanks for linking up at Raising My Boys!
Rorybore says
They are just gorgeous big blooms. my mom has a couple of plants too — and it’s a real chore to keep the kids away from the “trumpets.” but they are so beautiful, I wouldn’t want her to get rid of them.
hilary says
so beautiful!
commonweeder says
I do know that these are poisonous – but as long as you don’t have nibbling children or animals around there shouldn’t be a problem. Whenever I see datura in a friend’s garden I make sure they know the risk. Usually small.
CatSynth says
Nice picture. I used to have these flowers growing my yard in my previous home in Santa Cruz, California 🙂
