A few years back we were in London during the Christmas holidays. London in gorgeous year round but at Christmas is absolutely stunning. The window displays at Harrods sparkled with Swarovski crystals but it was the window in the little shop down the lane that I fell in love with. I bet these old worn vintage London ice skates have stories to tell!

If those are vintage, I am old.

I would be with you, looking at the little stores rather than the big department store with everyone else. Love the skates.

Looks like those hokey skates have seen some tough competition. Also, they may have dished out their share of abuse.

Oops. Make that hockey skates. [silly old man]

there’s a Recreation club that we used to go to all the time in winter: they had an outdoor ice rink and cross country ski trails, but there was also a club house that a pool table, darts, and air hockey — and they had a whole wall that was decorated with the History of Skates. it was really cool to see old ones like this, weathered and beaten with time. and some of the earlier ones too; which I cannot imagine how they skated on!
