California is dreaming about water! And so is almost everyone living in California. You could say that brown is the new green. Because that’s what color most lawns are these days. Growing anything in our yards has become quite a gamble. And with the scarcity of water the summer sun is taking its toll. A special thanks to Scotts® for sponsoring this post so we can learn more about the seriousness of the drought we’re experiencing and what we can do to help conserve.
Even with the waters of the Pacific Ocean all along the coast of the Golden State, it does not substitute for the water shortage. Faced with one of the most severe droughts on record, Californians are asked to constantly think of ways to conserve the dwindling water supply. Personally we’re taking shorter showers, brushing teeth thoroughly but more quickly, and using any number of inventive ways to more efficiently use the water we do have .
(Our hydrangea last year before the drought and again this year)
With precious little rainfall, water reserves, reservoirs, and lakes, etc., are at unprecedented low levels. Our local water district has declared a Drought Stage 4A alert. Outdoor watering is only allowed 2 days a week between the hours of 6pm and 6am. Odd addresses can water on Monday and Thursday. Even addresses can water on Tuesday and Friday. We’re doing our part and take seriously the measures that’ve been implemented. However, as you can see, our tomatoes and our hydrangea plant are feeling the effects of the drought.
We feel very fortunate that Scotts® EveryDrop™ has recently become available in California at retailers starting September 1st. It could not have come at a better time. EveryDrop™ goes a long way in helping conserve landscape water and make the most efficient use of it. It helps water spread out and sink into the soil and facilitates more water to get to the roots where it’s most needed and effective. The wetting agents in Scotts® EveryDrop™ are designed to reduce wasteful water runoff and pooling making it an excellent water-saving product. Up to 25 percent less water usage can be achieved by using EveryDrop™.
Scotts® EveryDrop™ is designed for use on lawns as well as landscaped areas and gardens. The unique blend of two wetting agents gets water to consistently move evenly and freely through soil. With the help of EveryDrop™ we’re very much looking forward to having green be the new green … again!

So sad to hear about the drought. Droughts affect so many things! We had a drought in Texas a few years ago and the tanks dried up and you could see fish skeletons everywhere!
Jennifer says
That drought is so crazy! It’s been going on forever, and it seems like there’s no end in sight.

That is insane! I still see the drought on the news, and I can’t believe it. I can’t imagine living in a place where you have to ration water.

This sounds like a great product for my lawn. In my complex we are not allowed to water our lawns and mine is always looking so dry. I would like to be able to have a nice green lawn with just the natural rainfall.
Tammi Roy says
A drought would be so scary. Even here where our water levels are always so high the water is quite low.

I am so glad to see a product like this one. California is NOT the only place experiencing a lack of rain. Thankfully, we had our dry run end here in Alaska, but not before wildfires claimed a fair bit of land.
Liz Mays says
This sounds like it could help a lot of people preserve their lawns. I could use it too, and we’re not in a drought.
Sabrina @ Dinner, then Dessert says
We’ve had to cut back our water use severely! Making the most of our water is important!
