Who said money doesn’t grow on trees?!?
A long standing family tradition has been receiving a money tree for the big/sweet 16th birthday. Each of our children celebrated by counting cash, and now our grandchildren are doing the same. How to make a money tree, you might ask? It’s a whole lot easier than you may think!
We always go the easy route by clipping a few branches from our trees. With the still leaves on, fill a large vase halfway with pebbles and stick the branches in. Easy!
Supplies:
- Two or three small branches
- A vase of container to hold your branches
- Pebbles, small smooth stones or marbles to fill your vase/container 1/3 full
- Bakerโs String or Ribbon to tie money on branches (affiliate links)
- Money in bill form. Ones, fives, tens, twenties … you get the idea. It all depends on how much your gifting.
Now comes the fun part. NY (aka David) is the pro at folding money and he enjoys doing it. He tries to make sure faces and numbers show on the folded bills when possible.
Fold each bill however your heart desires, then tie it with the baker’s string/ribbon. Fold it like a fan or …
… fold it and tie it in a knot, or …
… fold it into a ball, or …
… make a funnel, or …
… get a little abstract. Abstract. That’s NY’s love!
And there you have it. Your very own money tree that you can keep or gift it to someone special!
So, what do you think? Who would you give a money tree to?
