Living in harmony with the environment isn’t always easy. But taking little steps each day to live a greener lifestyle can help. We work hard to conserve energy and water (in current Southern California drought conditions); we recycle as well as compost food waste. We also decided to step it up a notch with our yard equipment. We’re happy to partner with Lowe’s (our favorite go-to home improvement store) to tell you all about the newest member of our green family: the Kobalt Cordless Electric Lawn Mower.
We considered getting a battery powered electric mower for awhile. Not only is safe for the environment, it’s extremely easy to start and to use. Gone is the pull-start of a traditional gas mower. And gone are electric cords associated with traditional electric mowers. Green and user friendly!
The official name: Lowe’s Kobalt 40-Volt Lithium Ion (Li-ion) 19-inch Deck Width Cordless Electric Push Lawn Mower. Kobalt is Lowe’s Improvement Center house brand. And Lowe’s recognizable signature logo color is blue. So Kobalt blue seems quite appropriate. And mowing the lawn doesn’t get any simpler than doing so with this “green” blue machine.
Why battery operated? Less noise is one of the many reasons. Is it silent? No, but it’s only 71 decibels compared to the normal 90+ decibels for gas powered mowers. Another great reason: no gas. You don’t have to worry about storing gas or running out. No gas, no oil = no fumes. Maintenance is low to nothing. You won’t be changing spark plugs, air filters or oil. Yet another great reason is Kobalt’s line of garden and power hand tools that are interchangeable with the same battery. The possibilities seem endless.
All these awesome features add up to less weight too. The mower weighs less than 50 pounds and is easy to fold up and store. The handle folds forward twice to the size of the wheel base. It’s easy to fit into smaller garages and garden sheds or to transport.
The Kobalt mower has an easy to use 7-position single lever height adjuster. It’s perfect for all grass types (and easy enough for Cathi to use).
Being environmentally friendly is our favorite thing about this Kobalt. Cathi’s next favorite thing is the push starter button and go!
He said: Quick and easy. The lawn is done in no time. Easy to store.
