We are much more in tune with our health now than when we were younger. I think we’re more aware of what makes our bodies feel best. We eat a whole food, plant-based diet and try to make sure we get regular physical exercise. Getting out in the fresh air and being physically active is very important for our lifestyle.
One of our favorite outdoor activities is walking and hiking on a wonderful local nature preserve. The preserve is home to mule deer, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, badgers and a plethora of creepy crawly critters, including tarantulas, that are indigenous to the area. I have to admit that I’m not crazy about crossing paths with a tarantula! But I do enjoy the deer, and even a lone coyote … from a reasonable distance!
With the recent Southern California rains, the wildflowers are blooming like crazy. Locals, and some national media news outlets, are actually referring to it as the “flower-geddon.”
And the vernal pools on the reserve have a flurry of activity with tadpoles, frogs, toads and snakes, just to name a few. The boardwalk across the pools provides an unbelievable vantage point of the teeming life that dwells within.
Although we eat healthy, we realize we still may lack much-needed vitamins. We’re mindful about making sure we get the proper amount of vitamins in our nutrition. We’ve been taking Nature Made supplements for as long as I can remember. It’s a brand we trust. We have fresh vitamin C loaded citrus growing right in our backyard. However, even in Southern California, it’s not always possible to pick our vitamins off the tree every day. That’s why we rely on Nature Made Vitamin C 500 mg SoftGels.
The best way to start the day for us is with an early morning breakfast. A favorite is homemade organic granola, fresh berries, and a boost of Vitamin C from Nature Made. Then we’re good to go! We most often have non-stop activities each day that often include our energetic grandchildren. So it’s important that we’re at the top of our energy game.
