Every year our children received (and still do) a new Christmas ornament. The tradition started thirty-four years ago when Brian was born. That same tradition has carried through to the next generation. Every year the grand kids get a new ornament too. Some years we let them pick out their own. This year we picked them out and surprised them.
ย This year our son Todd’s new ornament is a star which reminds me of a starfish. Todd is a scubadiver.
The nutcracker is for our grandson Austin. He was in awe of our Christmas nutcrackers when he was a dink.
ย Our grandson Cody is an animal lover. We know this little hedge hog will be his buddy.
And our grand daughter Kennedy is as perky as these polka dots. These are the traditional new ornaments for Christmas 2011.ย How about you? Do you have any traditions for your holiday celebrations?

That is a wonderful tradition! I tried it with my daughter and she broke her first ornament in the store ๐
Happy Christmas to you!

Great ornaments! Just riding around to see all the light displays.

We have LOTS of Christmas traditions, almost too many to list, but sadly I’ve been sick for the last 2 weeks and we’ve had to miss out on a lot this year. One “must” is our handmade Advent calendar (I do something different each year); another is opening stockings on Christmas Eve.

What a great tradition! On Christmas Eve we always go look at Christmas lights.
Merry Christmas and have a safe weekend!

I love that tradition! We started that when we visited my brother in 2007 and tagged along (and participated) in their annual tradition of going to the downtown Seattle Macy’s for a picture with Santa and picking out a new ornament. Now Princess Nagger and I pick out a new ornament each year – and she picks one out for Dada. ๐ That star totally does look like a starfish! And I bet all the kids were very pleased with what you picked out for them. ๐
Hope you and yours have a Very Merry Christmas, Cathy! ๐

We always light the menorah together. Some nights we put on Chanukah music and leave it on while we eat dinner or spend time playing with the kids. Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family Cathi ๐

Although we don’t celebrate Christmas, we do have 2 Christmas traditions. The first is watching the parade on TV. The second is eating Chinese food for dinner. Yes, I know it’s the stereotypical “Jewish Christmas” thing, but it is something fun for the kids and us.

What a lovely tradition… as of right now we do several celebrations with different family members. Eventually I want to have some of our own to enjoy with my little one : )
