Summer is in full swing in our corner of the world complete with 100 degree weather. Can’t say I’m thrilled about the heat but I am excited for summer. Today we want to share a little backyard fun on Pinterest. From sweet frozen fruits to games and gardening … here’s to summer!

Our grandson Cody will be celebrating his 11th birthday next week complete with a backyard pool party. We’ve been brainstorming ideas to make the party a bit more than ordinary. I’m loving the Obstacle Course mud run birthday party from Under The Sycamore. Not only are the photos stunning but the littles are obviously having the best time of their lives! I’m thinking we can incorporate some of this fun into Cody’s party.

I am so anxious to try these Raspberry-Buttermilk Ice Pops. I use buttermilk in recipes like pancakes, cakes and casseroles but I wouldn’t have considered using it in a frozen popsicle. I’m curious to give it a go but I’m also thinking coconut or almond milk might be substituted. I’m game to try alternative fruit ingredients in this recipe too. Oh the possibilities!

I’m over the top excited about putting together the hanging suet feeder nesting materials for our feathered friends in the backyard. I’m hoping it’s not too late in the season. We have dozens of small birds living with us and I’d love to see some color in their nests. But before you decide that yarn may not be good for our feathered friends, read the facts the gals at Juniper Moon Farm have to share.

Our grand-daughter Kennedy is a corker! She’s as girlie girl as they come yet she’s a tomboy at heart. She runs and climbs with the best of them never letting her older brothers leave her behind. And if she could wear a dress everyday she would. Every. Single. Day. What says summer better than this darling navy and white little Girl’s Striped Sateen Dress from J Crew? It has Kennedy’s name written all over it and it also caters to my obsession with stripes!

Imagine a warm summer evening with a few goods friends and family playing a wicked game of Scrabble. Now imagine sitting outside playing a game of Outdoor Scrabble. I think it’s a brilliant! I also think it’s an awesome way to get the kids to give the classic word game a go.

How awesome is this Skateboard Swing? I see hours of imaginative play for the lucky littles who have this in their backyard. I’m also thinking our Kennedy could get this skateboard airborne like a super hero! Check out A Little Bit Funky for the 20 minute step by step tutorial. It can’t get any easier than that!
So how about you? What plans do you have for backyard summer fun this year?
