Welcome to Favorite Photo Saturday!

We take a lot of photos every week. Sometimes hundreds! Seriously. (Love digital photography!) So we decided to choose one favorite each week and post it on Saturday.

I am totally mesmerized with paddle wheels on riverboats. Totally. The splashing of the wheel as it goes round and round and in and out of the water draws me in like the ebb of the ocean tide. I captured this shot of the Mark Twain Riverboat at Disneyland from Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

From Kailani at An Island Life: In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays let’s take it easy on posting, too. Ask a simple question … nothing that requires a lengthy response. It’s a great way to make new blogging friends!

Here in Southern California it has been getting very warm. I consider it down right hot. While NY likes the heat … I don’t. At all. I don’t function well when I’m hot and I don’t feel well either. Never have. I might feel different if I lived on the beach or in the mountains on a lake. You know, with a nice cool breeze. But I don’t. So, I’m not looking forward to summer. I’m not looking forward to summer at all.

How about you? Do you like the heat of summer?

Welcome to Favorite Photo Saturday!

We take a lot of photos every week. Sometimes hundreds! Seriously. (Love digital photography!) So we decided to choose one favorite each week and post it on Saturday. However this week we have three favorites!

I love a good sky. This week the sky ran the gamut. On Tuesday night we had an incredibly gorgeous orange sunset. It was so vibrant that the inside of our house was tinted orange and pink. I loved this sky so much that I also featured it as our Wordless Wednesday photo.

The very next night on Wednesday the sky was preparing for rain with dark clouds and tropical storm winds. Both skies were enjoyable. Both earned their rightful place on Favorite Photo Saturday.

I’m over the top in love with this photo of Austin (our 12-year old grandson) taking photos of the roses at our local elementary school. He went with us to see the Earth Day program our granddaughter (his baby sister) was participating in. The kindergarteners and fifth graders were planting trees together. As we were leaving, Austin took advantage of photographing the gorgeous rose bushes that line the front of the school. He’s a photographer in the making. Just look at this spider he spotted.

NY is the true photographer in our family. He has an eye for the abstract and more importantly details like the water drops on these delicate pink rose petals.

As we were leaving Disneyland this week the sun was setting but the “Partners” were glowing. I love the view with the lovely pink blossoms in the background.

Our kids grew up riding motorcycles. It’s what we did as a family. However we rode three wheeled dirt bikes in the sand dunes of Glamis and Pismo Beach. (Somehow that  makes me feel like I didn’t intentionally expose my children to extensive bodily harm while at the same time enjoying the outdoors and fresh ocean air!) Our boys have the love of motorcycles and death defying stunts bred deep within their beings so needless to say, our oldest son is over the top excited about taking his boys to see the Nuclear Cowboyz perform this weekend.

The oldest operating McDonald’s is located in Downey, California. NY grew up in Downey and spent many a Friday and Saturday night hanging out here on Lakewood Blvd. Today we sat and listened to tunes from the sixties while enjoying a burger, fries and chocolate milkshake.”
