The first thing we (my family and I) learned at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration: Disney knows how to party. If Disney is involved the party is beyond anything expected. I honestly didn’t know how the Grand Floridian Beach Dinner or the Hollywood Studios Dinner with the Neverland Pirates could be topped, but I was wrong. Disney always goes the extra mile and did not disappoint the last night of our Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.
It was my first time entering the gates of EPCOT. I had seen many a photo of the famous EPCOT sphere but nothing prepared me for how big and impressive it actually is. I discovered a few days later that the Spaceship Earth attraction actually goes up and around the inside of the sphere.
We raced through the entrance and straight to the World ShowPlace Events Pavilion and my head was spinning. Spinning in circles trying to see everything EPCOT as we sped past. I had waited years to see EPCOT and the International Flower & Garden Festival and now…I was seeing it all as a blur as I ran by each gorgeous display. We had just enough time from an earlier event to be on time for the next.
Disney Magic of Healthy Living launched in September 2010. First Lady Michelle Obama was featured along with Disney Channel stars in public service announcements about eating healthy and being active. The goal is to inspire a balance of nutritious eating and physical activity.
Disney held an essay contest for kids to enter by sharing their own healthy living ideas for their home, school and commuities. From thousands of essays, 50 Healthy Living Champions were chosen. The winners and their families were invited to spend the weekend at Walt Disney World to participate in in a one-of-a-kind “TRYathlon. They played fun & creative games, learned how to make quick, healthy meals and learned about planting a variety of vegetable gardens.
Before dinner the Disney Social Media Moms were lucky enough to interview an incredible panel of celebrities who were involved with the Magic of Healthy Living campaign. I was impressed with what some of these young people had to say. For instance, using stairs and playing tag when a gym is available for working out physically. They also talked about getting kids involved with planting, growing and harvesting a garden. We like that idea! (We have the cutest photo of our Brian snapping green beans from our garden when he was about 4 years old!)
After dinner the entertainment began with the Disney stars coming out on stage dancing to the beat of the music all the while introducing…
…Disney characters and the 50 Healthy Living Champions.
I’m betting that everyone had as good a time as my family and I … especially all the little ones who the Disney characters went out of their way to “talk” with.
We were treated to an incredible view of the Illuminations – Reflections of Earth firework show on and over the World Showcase Lagoon. Before the show even started the gorgeous full moon set the magical stage.
Good food, good friends and Disney! It simply doesn’t get any better!!
I paid a modest fee to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Conference. The modest fee included a room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Park Hopper tickets and extraordinary events and family dinner parties. There was no requirement to blog about the conference or the events. All the excitement and opinions are 100% mine!
