We’ve been up to our mouse ears for weeks planning our DisneySide Home Celebration. It was well worth the excitement and the preparations. Our theme was “It’s All About The Mouse.” But we also wanted a Disney Party on a budget that would be fun and easy for anyone to host at home.
Come join us. We’d love to share our preparations and celebration with you!
First things first. We made our invitations using an HP Photo Card Pack. Since our theme was “It’s All About The Mouse” we used a photo of Mickey we took at Disneyland as he led the band down Main Street.
Our front door decorations were simple yet adorable Mickey and Minnie Mouse heads.
We used two different sized paper plates (dinner and dessert sizes). They were glued together with a hot glue gun, with a red polka dot bow added for Minnie. We added ribbons and attached them on the inside of the doors with push pins.
Next we added garland and portraits of the mouse himself!
Princess Kennedy, our 8-year old grand-daughter, wore a cute Minnie Mouse outfit that I put together … for under ten dollars! Our no-sew Minnie Mouse tee-shirt is easy to make along with Minnie Mouse Sandals. Easy peasy for nearly any budget.
Everyone loved the refreshments!
You can’t go wrong with chocolate milk at our house! Kennedy, along with all the kids, enjoyed helping herself to the beverage center.
We used pint size mason jars tied with ribbon to hold our washi tape wooden flatware. The black polka dot Washi tape, added to the wooden flatware and carried out our “It’s All About The Mouse” theme perfectly.
We served pizza along with a trail mix: Ocean Spray Craisins, banana chips and a mixture of nuts.
We chose not to add chocolate or sweet items to the trail mix because we were also serving…
… Mickey Mouse and sparkling star sugar cookies …
… and Mickey Mouse cupcakes made with Oreo cookies for ears.
Our Mickey Mouse Photo Booth was a simple, inexpensive frame painted black. Paper plates again glued on for ears. Cody and Kennedy went for the bigger of the two frames for a buddy pic.
Austin went with the bigger frame complete with three accessories. He was a moustached pirate at Mardi Gras!!
Elijah went with the smaller frame … while still eating a cookie. The eared frames were a huge hit which made for lots of fun photos. And lots of fun!
As soon as the our guests arrived they were ‘tagged’ on the back with the name of a Disney character. They were to ask questions that had yes or no answers while trying to guess “Who Am I?” This game was a huge hit. Everyone loved it! So much so that when we ran out of character stickers we made more out of address stickers to continue the fun.
And then there was Elijah. When he had difficulty guessing his first name, Donald Duck, he announced that he wasn’t really all that big of a Disney fan. We were all very surprised. Was he at the wrong party!?! Well … guess who caught on and ultimately WON the game? You betcha! Elijah now has a strong #DisneySide!! He’s officially one of our family!!
Our #DisneySide Celebration didn’t end with desserts. We partied on and on sharing memories of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. Kennedy remembered her very first time on Cars Land Racers. Cody told everyone how I promised him a new video game if he would ride California Screamin for the very first time. It’s true, too! And when he got off the coaster the first thing he said was, “You owe me a new video game!” Then he looked at Grandpa and said, “Can we go again?” The new video game was well worth it because I knew he’d love the upside down loop the coaster makes.
We’re fortunate to live near Disneyland Resort where we meet up often with extended family. Our #DisneySide continues each and every day. And now ….
… we’re going to Disneyland!
So how about you? Are you ready to have your own DisneySide Celebration? How do you get your #DisneySide on? Share it with Disney at Show Your Disney Side now!
We received an American Tourister Rollaboard along with Disney party supplies to help inspire our #DisneySide Home Celebration. All thoughts and photos are our own and may not be used without written permission.

Thank you so much Lori! We had a lot of fun both planning and preparing our celebration. I tend to go overboard with my spending on parties so we wanted a celebration that was within a budget for most anyone. We along with our guest had a blast! I’ve also had fun posting tutorial posts for the easy craft projects. In fact today I’m posting the tutorials for Kennedy’s Mickey Mouse tee and her fun flip flop sandals. Next week I’ll do the Mickey Mouse cupcakes and the cookies. The fun just keeps on going. And that’s the magic of Disney! Right?
Hugs,
Cathi

Sounds like a great party, love the cupcakes – they look so good. The guess your character name had to be a ton of fun. Thanks for sharing your #DisneySide with us!
