Last night we were privileged to attend a screening of Dreamworks’ new film War Horse. If I could use one word to describe the film it would be…
Epic!
But just one word cannot do the film justice. War Horse is an excellent, outstanding, bittersweet, heart wrenching film that will probably cause viewers to run through a gamut of emotions. You may cry, cringe, clap and or stand up and cheer! Everything about the film is fabulous. (Even when I covered my ears and eyes during brutal war scenes … I had to peek because I didn’t want to miss a single thing.)
Director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams have created nothing less than yet another Dreamworks masterpiece. And War Horse is the latest of their outstanding collaberative achievements.
War Horse is about a horse …
… and the boy who loves him.
It’s about the bond the two of them form.
It’s about changing relationships.
It’s about war.
It’s about friendships, survival, compassion, defeats and triumphs.
Ultimately its about a magnificent horse … War Horse!
War Horse reminded me a bit of Gone With The Wind with its history, impressive locations and intense story.
War Horse opens in theaters everywhere on Christmas Day 2011.
It’s a family oriented film, however war scenes may be upsetting to very young children and others. Our eleven year old grandson and six year old grand daughter would enjoy the film. Our eight year old grandson might have a difficult time with many of the intense war scenes and the fate of characters and animals in the story.
We did not receive any compensation for this post. We were invited to a screening of War Horse. All thoughts and opinions are our own. All images were provided by Dream Works.
