Are you taking advantage of the sun’s solar energy yet? We’ve recently been contemplating getting solar panels. With the cost of electricity rising every year, solar energy makes more and more sense. It’s good for the environment and can cost less than conventional power. So let’s talk about going green with Sunrun.
Harnessing the power of the sun is a smart way to power your home. Many people however, are under the impression that solar power is expensive, even though it can be just the opposite. With Sunrun solar service you can get started for as little as zero (yes, zero) money up front. You only pay for the solar power, not the panels. Sunrun tends to the system for the lifetime of your agreement. They monitor and maintain the system with no cost to you. Sunrun buys and installs the panels customized just for your home. Once that’s all done you’re ready to go! You pay Sunrun a low locked-in rate for your clean, good-for-the-planet (and you) solar electricity. Sounds good to me!

As electricity rates continue to rise, your locked-in rate with Sunrun will stay the same. Sunrun customers save an average of 20% on their electricity costs.* (*Actual savings will vary. See http://clvr.li/1dwHGKc for details.). One size fits all is not what Sunrun is all about. They’ve created their own design technology called BrightPath. Using BrightPath, Sunrun creates a design specifically for your home and your needs.
Your house will have a netmeter installed, which tells your local electirc company how much solar electricity your system is sending to the power grid. It might sound complicated, but it really isn’t. On sunny days your panels are cranking out solar electricity which your home is using. If you produce more electricity than you use the extra is sent to the utility grid and the netmeter spins backwards giving you credit. At night, or on a cloudy day, you’ll use what credit you have and any extra will be obtained from the utility grid. The netmeter will spin forward letting your local electric company know how much you used.

So … is your house a good candidate for Sunrun solar service?
- First: Do you have a high electric bill? If you’re paying a lot for electricity there’s a good chance that solar is the right for you.
- Second: Is your roof in good condition? Does it face south, east or west? Grab a compass and check it out!
- Third: Do you live in an area that Sunrun services? Check their website to find out.

Solar has gone up and down in popularity in our area for a couple of years now. My parents actually used to have it. Those Nest thermometers look great!

When we lived in California we looked into solar. At the time it was still too expensive (10 years ago), but I understand prices are MUCH better now.

Solar energy is a great thing, a money saver and an earth saver. We are looking into getting solar panels to help cut down on the cost.

I’ll have to see if we live in a Sunrun area. I love the idea of solar power and am glad it is becoming more affordable for homeowners to set it up.

I live in a sun run area and I need to think about solar panels. That way I can save my electricity bills and it is beneficial for nature as well. Thanks & keep posting!
