We love going to Disneyland. Living in Southern California puts us in reasonable proximity so most of our visits to the Disney Resort are day trips. There are those certain occasions, however, when being closer has its advantages. One of our favorite places to stay on those occasions is the Hotel Menage. While there are no shortages of hotels in the area, Hotel Menage is the first boutique hotel in all of Anaheim.
Hotel Menage has a distinctive and inviting look, accented by palm trees and tropical foliage.
The grounds of the hotel are well maintained. Valet or ample self parking is available and easy. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and courteous.
For our most recent stay, we booked two adjoining rooms. This room was spacious even with two queen beds and ample sleeping accommodations for our 3 grandchildren. *My only issue is with the huge dark-colored bed frames. Because they’re black in color and blend with the carpet, the grands and I repeatedly hit our shins on them. We unfortunately brought home bruises with us. I suggest covering the bed frame corners with white towels to remind yourself of the obstacle.*
The second room with a king sized bed was even more spacious with a nice sitting area.
The rooms are simply decorated and elegant looking, in muted earth tones that are easy on the eyes.
The flat screen TV was easily viewable from the bed and sofa. The desk area allowed for plenty of room for our notebook and other electronic devices.
Both rooms were equipped with a safe for guest’s valuables. So what better place for the grands to keep their candy safe … from each other! You set your very own combination code electronically each time it’s opened and closed. Can’t count the number of times they locked each other out!
Ten. Count them. Ten full sized hangers and ample hanging space in the closet.
A great pool and hot tub that the grands had a blast in. And…they’re open for guest use 24 hours a day. Yes, 24 hours!
The glass elevators allowed views of the pool and surrounding area, which fed my fear of heights much to the delight of the grands.
Vending machines offer a variety of items that are available around the clock. (Yup! 24 hours a day!) At 3am … because someone couldn’t sleep! … two of us were down here buying a microwavable bag of popcorn and using the microwave to pop it!
This is the media room that has guest computer internet access and printing capabilities.
For dining, the American Tavern can be found right off the main entrance lobby and is known as a ‘gastropub.’
The menu is affordable and specializes in comfort food such as lobster mac-n-cheese, chopped salads and much more. Checkout their website for daily happy hour and breakfast buffet info as well as specialty drinks.
It’s surprising how close the Hotel Menage is to the Disney Resorts. It really is a small world!
Being that close, and especially to the backlot, the Menage offers a unique viewing area for the spectacular Disney firework show.
We sat poolside and had ringside seats for the pyrotechnics display.
Where else can you swim at night with a firework display almost directly overhead?! Cody’s imitation rocket launcher had the sound effects to back him up!
Hotel Menage guests are actually closer to the fireworks than Disneyland guests.
Even great firework shows must come to an end. And when the time came, we went right up to our rooms. At our home away from home, there was no need drive anywhere. When visiting Disney Resorts, other nearby places of interest, or the Anaheim/Orange County area, we recommend staying at Hotel Menage. Not only is the Hotel Menage a Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel but they also connect with their guests through Twitter and Facebook. Cheers for social media!
We received a complimentary stay at the Hotel Menage. All opinions, and photographs are our own and may not be used without written permission.
