One of our favorite things about the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum is the visiting exhibits. Don’t get us wrong. We love the permanent exhibits. But the visiting exhibits are always interesting, unique and enhance the already inspiring experience.
Political views aside, you’ll enjoy learning about or reliving historical events in time and get a feel of the American spirit. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum is an impressive campus, sitting atop a hill, surrounded by stunning views of the Simi Valley. Quintessential Southern California.
Plan to spend ample time to see all the permanent exhibits as well as those visiting. One of the most amazing permanent exhibits is of President Reagan’s presidential limousine, Secret Service Suburbans, as well as Air Force One, a Boeing 707, and Marine One helicopter that also flew President Johnson. There’s even a piece of the Berlin Wall on permanent display; a permanent reminder the wall was indeed torn down!
In addition to static displays there are special events scheduled from time to time that add to the overall experience. Special events include: lecture series, book signings, commemoration services, temporary exhibits, and much more. Last year we thoroughly enjoyed the visiting exhibit Vatican Splendors: A Journey Through Faith and Art. It was both beautiful, interesting, and awe-inspiring.
This year we were excited to tour the special Titanic exhibit. Keep in mind it’s not a traveling exhibit. The one and only place to view it is at the Reagan Library.
There are audio devices available to self-guide as you walk you through the expance of the exhibit. The audio provides meticulous details of everything you’ll see. It’s well worth the nonminal device rental fee. We took full advantage of this option and highly recommend it.
The 10,000 square foot exhibition reunites hundreds of Titanic artifacts that have not been together since the ship’s fateful night in 1912. Together, material and artifacts from the 1984-1985 discovery of the doomed ocean liner, along with items from the 1997 movie, Titanic, create a first-of-its-kind exhibition not seen anywhere else together before.
If you’ve seen any of the films depicting the supposedly unsinkable ship, you may recognize many of the displays. There’s even an entire area dedicated to many of those onboard. Only a fraction survived, with the majority losing their lives. You’ll learn more about some of the various passenger and crew on a very personal level.
Don’t miss the Titanic exhibit, which will only be at the Reagan Library through January 7, 2018.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum is beautiful. The location is breathtaking. It’s peaceful and educational, which are two of the many things we love about it.
He says: Not only are the visiting exhibits one of a kind, so are those on permanent display. The historical significance cannot be understated. Most impressive is the exhibit of Air Force One and other means of presidential transportation. The area dedicated to their display is as impressive as it is massive.
She Says: I love visiting presidential libraries. And especially this one. It really is remarkable. The Oval Office display looks so real it makes me feel as if I’m actually in it! This library is a tribute to the greatness of America and to a president who loved his country. I love learning something new every time I visit.

I’d love to visit that presidential library but that Titanic exhibit makes it even more appealing. So much history tied up there and it would be incredible to see in person.

I have been to one in California. I am not sure if it is the same one as this but it was extremely enjoyable to see I love anything to do with history and this hits on a lot of things that I’m interested in. I will have to take a trip out that way and check out this library.
Danielle says
That looks like such a fascinating exhibit. It’s always been so interesting to me that a ship deemed indestructible could have been sunk so easily.

I’ve been to that area of California but not to the Reagan Library. It is a gorgeous part of the state. This looks like a very interesting exhibit

I’m totally obsessed with the Titanic so I would love to visit this exhibit. I think I would learn so much more than what I’ve read in books to see the Titanic come to life with the recreations.
