We’re honored to be part of the 2018 Knott’s Berry Farm #BerryBloggers program. This blog post is part of our partnership with Knott’s Berry Farm.
I love Santa photos! It doesn’t matter if the capture is perfect with the kiddos happy and smiling. Or not so perfect with the kiddos trying to escape Santa! There always seems to be a story and a memory to look back on.
For over 30 years it’s been a tradition in our family to visit Santa’s Christmas Cabin at Knott’s Berry Farm. When our kids were young I’d load them up in the van and drive almost an hour just to get their photo taken with Knott’s Santa Claus.
If you’re wondering why I chose to Knott’s when there were plenty of Santas closer to home, it’s because of Santa’s Christmas Cabin. There are always festive treats available that fill the air with the scent of the holidays, all in a gorgeous setting. And of course … Santa!
Back in the 80s and 90s Santa’s Christmas Cabin was just as festive as it is now. And while we (me and my kids) didn’t actually spend the day at Knott’s, we were able to visit Ghost Town and see Santa without park admission. This gave us access to Christmas festivities, shopping and many of the delectable holiday treats.
Last year for Merry Farm we took our then 14-year old grandson and one of his best friends. When they weren’t getting their thrills on Knott’s famous rides, they were feeling the Christmas spirit with us at the incredible Christmas shows. I might add that the boys didn’t bat an eye about getting a photo with Santa!
This year David & I marked the calendar for an all day holiday date at Knott’s Merry Farm. While we had several must-dos on our list, the most important was visiting Santa’s Christmas Cabin. Besides tasting the delicious chocolate covered holiday cheesecake, we wanted a photo with the big guy himself. We waited in the queue with parents and their littles ones, who were anticipating their turn to visit with Santa. No doubt they wanted to tell him all about their Christmas wishes. Their excitment was electric! It was more than worth the short wait.
It’s good to know that Knott’s Santa’s Christmas Cabin is for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Even grandparents sans grandkids!
David says: The Christmas decorations throughout Knott’s are great. And Cathi & I enjoyed as many of the special Christmas shows as we were able to see. We also tasted a few of the many holiday treats available. It was a great way to enhance the Christmas season. And Santa’s Christmas Cabin is the best!
Cathi says: I love Knott’s Berry Farm during the holidays. Especially Santa’s Christmas Cabin! I’m so glad David & I took the time to enjoy the festivities together. And most of all to have a Santa photo memory of the incredible day.

I love your photos from the 80’s, Cathi! So much fun to see how the holidays change and how they stay the same.

Me too Melanie!
It’s the Christmas/Holiday spirit and family traditions that matter most. I love learning about other people’s traditions and beliefs.
