We’re happy and honored to be part of the Knott’s Berry Farm #BerryBloggers program. This blog post is part of our partnership with Knott’s Berry Farm.
The Knotts Boysenberry Festival 2018 is on and ready for you to enjoy. This world famous annual festival has incredibly delicious boysenberry-inspired creations. There are 75 new and returning items that have been crafted by Knott’s very own culinary team. We’d like to let you to know all about sweet and savory Knotts Boysenberry Festival, and what you don’t want to miss. This year Knott’s is also introducing a brand new line of bath products. How bodily delicious is that?
The 2018 Knott’s Boysenberry Festival runs from March 16th through April 8th. There’s plenty of time to enjoy all the festival as to offer. But don’t delay! You don’t want to have to wait until next year to get your boysenberry on!
The first thing we want you to know is the cost of admission to Knott’s (especially their annual pass) is very reasonably priced. While prices are always subject to change, this year you can expect to pay around $50, if you buy your tickets online. And $79.00 at the gate. Just remember, it’s easy peasy to order online and print them out.
Now, on to the festival. The Boysenberry Festival tasting card is only $30. With it you’re able to get a hearty sampling of eight listed items. New this year is the opportunity to use your eight samplings for eight different selections, OR eight of the same. In other words, mix-and-match up to eight tastings.
If you’re a foodie, especially a boysenberry foodie, you may want to plan more than a day or two exploring and tasting all the deliciousness of the Boysenberry Festival. There’s of course a whole lot of sweetness, but don’t forget the savory. The chef’s at Knott’s have outdone themselves with all the offerings this year!
Our family loved the Slow Cooked Boysenberry Short Ribs. They’re served with boysenberry hoisin sauce (ask for extra!) buttery basmati rice and chopped green onions. Don’t want onions? Just say, no onions please! Our grandson Cody love Loved LOVED the Boysenberry Short Ribs!
The Boysenberry Pierogies are filled with cheddar cheese and served with (or without, upon request) boysenberries, sautéed onions, smoked bacon and boysenberry sour cream.
You’ll find both the Boysenberry Short Ribs and Boysenberry Pierogies inside Spurs Chophouse which is located directly across from Ghost Rider and next to Ghost Town Bakery.
How about these Boysenberry Chicken Wings? I’m vegan but these wings even look good to me! They’re roasted and drenched in boysenberry barbecue sauce, and served right outside Spurs Chop House. Our granddaughter Kennedy could not get enough of these!
And now, my very favorite! Boysenberry Elote, or grilled Mexican street corn. Oh my goodness! I have to admit, I’ve had at least one or two or … a few of these savory treats. The corn is roasted to perfection and slathered with boysenberry mayonnaise, boysenberry butter and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. And it’s on a stick to make it almost effortless to gobble down. You’ll find the Boysenberry Elote stand across from Gold Trails Hotel.
The kid’s (of all ages) will love the Boysenberry Cheese Quesadilla. The colorful tortillas are filled to the brim with Mozzarella cheese and cotija cheese and served with boysenberry salsa and boysenberry sour cream. You’ll find the Boysenberry Quesadilla outside Ghost Town Candy near Boot Hill Graveyard.
And one of my meat eating family’s favorites: the Boysenberry Sausage on a Bun. The grilled sausage is served on a freshly baked roll with boysenberry ketchup, relish and mustard. You’ll find these hearty babies on the Wilderness Dance Hall patio.
And for the adventure foodie… how about some Deep Fried Alligator & Fries with Boysenberry Aioli in a Cone. I was actually surprised that my family ate two of these.
Also in the savory line up:
- Boysenberry Hummus with Grilled Pita Bread – This is delicious and vegetarian!
- Boysenberry Bacon Jerky
- Boysenberry Sriracha Bacon Jerky
Now for the Boysenberry Sweets! Oh yes, the sweets! There are many new and returning delights to satisfy most any sweet tooth.
Any coconut lovers out there? The bite-sized Boysenberry Coconut Macaroon is dipped in a decadent chocolate ganache. These little sweets are located at the Ghost Town Bakery.
Churros! Boysenberry Stuffed Churros! This is a win win. Churros and boysenberries! You’ll find them at The Churro Factory near Calico Park.
Okay! Now for two of my personal favorites this year:
The Boysenberry Pie Shake and Cheesecake on a Stick. Oh yes!
The Boysenberry Pie Shake is topped with an actual little slice of boysenberry pie. How delicious is that?
And the Cheesecake on a Stick is dipped, no, make that slathered in chocolate right in front of your eyes. And it’s not a simple cheesecake. This cheesecake has ribbons of boysenberry running through it. Delicious I tell you!
The Boysenberry Cookiewich is an ice cream sandwich at it’s best. And for the record, IT IS huuuge! And those chocolate chips!
And don’t forget to get your berry on with delectable Boysenberry Chocolate Strawberries. Even strawberries love boysenberries!
But it was this oh so lovely Boysenberry Cake that called my name. Oh. My. Yum!
We can’t forget the Boysenberry pastries. What’s a Boysenberry Festival without Boysenberry Pie and Boysenberry Tarts? Both are available at Ghost Town Bakery.
But at Cordelia’s Pie Kitchen (Pony Express Outpost next to Wilderness Dance Hall), you can make your own Boysenberry tart. Our granddaughter Kennedy loved doing this!
Our sweet friend Melanie from Clementine County shows how you too can make a boysenberry tart at Cordelia’s Pie Kitchen.

And they are very big on making sure everything is as fresh as possible. Your churro, for example, is freshly made and not filled with boysenberry sauce until you order it!
Cathi says: We had an opportunity of meeting a few of the Chef’s and I’m here to tell you… they love their work! they have passion and it show in the food. I went from sweet to savory and back to sweet again and again and maybe again.
