Don’t you just love special things that are handmade with love? I do! And I’d like to share the little The Tricks or Freaks handmade Halloween storybook. It is absolutely delightful.
Simply covered with black construction paper and a wicked swish (or perhaps a slash!) of orange, The Tricks or Freaks intrigued our grandkids from the moment they set eyes on it. The setting was perfect! The moon filled their bedroom with an eery glow as we laid in bed snuggled together. They asked how the orange was added to the cover before we ever turned to the first page. They’re curious like that.
And then we read … “One Eve of All Hallows not so long ago, a strange little story began to unfold. Chilled was the night right down to the bone, while warm pumpkin seeds toasted in homes.” The story tells of children dressed in their Halloween costumes as they excitedly walk the pumpkin lined paths. When they arrive at the doors and yell “Trick or Treat!” their excitement turns to horror, as all the candy bowls are empty! Mix in a few sweet toothed witches, gargoyles, goblins, ghosts and beasts and the story gets better with each turn of the page. We love happy endings, still this one is a surprise. But the children are happy and so are the Freaks! The Tricks or Freaks is available for purchase as a digital book ($1.99) to read or as the delightful handmade book ($10.00) we received for review.
