The Pink Hydrangea

We have a gorgeous pink hydrangea plant. But over the past winter it had a hard life. It was once filled with lovely blooms, but an unusal winter frost took its toll. The unexpected turn of events was unexpected. Nevertheless, it was overwhelming for the poor hydrangea to spend several days out in the unusually frigid weather for Southern California. We had no plans for the temperature falling into freezing digits. Not only did the bright pink blooms fall off, but all the deep green leaves did too. We thought all might be lost. But we couldn’t give up hope. We moved the poor dried up and seemingly deceased hydrangea to the front porch.

I’ve had hydrangea for awhile – they are very susceptible to changes in the weather. But they always seem to come back eventually. Even when ‘someone’ hacks off new growth, dries it out during a hot summer or they freeze in a early/late frost.

    They are my favorite plant!
