Last Saturday morning Brian picked up Cody and Kennedy from our house after a sleep over. As they drove away, their conversation went like this:
Kennedy: Where are we going?
Brian: Home.
Kennedy: Where?
Brian: Home.
Kennedy: Where?
Brian a bit louder: Home.
Kennedy: Why are you yelling?!
(Kennedy age 3)
This morning during the one hour drive to a doctor’s appointment:
Cody (as he pretends to take Kennedy’s photo with her toy cell phone): Smile!
Kennedy: No! Give me my phone!
Cody: Smile!
Kennedy: No! Give me my phone!
Cody clicks the toy cell phone camera.
Kennedy: Let me see! Ooooooo… I look so cute!
(Cody age 5)
During the drive home from the doctor’s appointment, NY and I noticed everything from books to Happy Meal toys and little Halloween candy bars flying about the back seat. Anything they could get their little hands on they were flinging at each other in frustration.
Grandpa (aka DD & NY) Hey! Hey! Stop throwing things!
Kennedy: He has MY water!
Grandma: You guys are sharing the water.
– More things fly about –
Grandpa: Hey! You guys be nice to each other.
Cody: You don’t understand DD, we just don’t get along!
I realized just how thankful I am that our car is big enough that the carseats are not within grabbing distance of each other. It seems what one of these little darlings has… is what the other wants.
