10 Ways to Detox your Home with Zerorez
We try our best to live a natural and organic lifestyle. From what we put in and on our bodies to what we use to clean our home. It isn’t always easy, but we’re usually quite successful. We just spent the weekend at a huge expo all about natural and organic products. Fact is, companies couldn’t even be there without meeting organic criteria. It was fabulous!
From the toothpaste and shampoo we use, to the soap we wash our dishes with, we have choices that are better for our health and the health of our family. Home is where we can feel safe and we can be the healthiest. But floors (carpet or hard surface), countertops, and furniture can collect germs and bacteria. Cleaners with toxic chemicals may kill the bacteria, but the fumes and residue from the cleaners can do us more harm than good. Certain fumes have been the cause of headaches, nausea and more. Still, it’s estimated that the average home contains from 500 to 1,000 or more different chemicals, most that you cannot see, smell, or taste.
As we said in Zerorez SoCal and the 5 second rule, Zerorez cleans without toxic chemicals. They also have an easy to follow list of 10 ways to detox your homes.
1. Use non-toxic products. There is a plethora of natural cleaning and health products available.
2. Do your best to avoid products with synthetic fragrances that can contain as many as 300 chemical ingredients. This is an easy step for David and me as our entire home is fragrance free.
3. Do you use mothballs? I don’t actually know anyone who does/has since my grandmother did 50 years ago. But cedar clothes hangers, chips or sachets with mint, thyme or cloves are much better for our health.
4. Open your windows! Let the fresh air in. With all the modern improvements with window and door sealing materials, toxins and germs have a better chance of hanging out in your home.
5. Remove your shoes before walking around in your house. If your not comfortable going barefoot wear slippers or socks inside.
6. Replace your cardboard air filter with electrostatic filter. Washable electrostatic filters are more than 90% efficient, which can dramatically improves our home’s air quality. Check with your Zerorez technician and order custom-made metal frame filters that will last a lifetime.
7. Purchase a carbon monoxide alarm that will monitor emissions from gas stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, and water heaters. Change the batteries in your alarms twice a year when you change the clocks for daylight savings.
8. Air out bathrooms with windows or use the fan regularly to prevent mold and mildew.
9. Install water filters for drinking water and also in your shower heads. A 20 minute shower can expose you to more chlorine and fluoride than you would drink in 5 gallons of water. Wow! I had no idea.
10. Your carpets are the biggest filter in your home, and traditional carpet cleaning leaves soapy, chemical residues that can exacerbate allergy, asthma, and chemical sensitivities. Have Zerorez clean carpets, upholstery, tile and grout, natural stone, and hardwood to eliminate toxins and chemicals from surfaces that may have soap, solvent or chemical residue.

Our carpet and kitchen floor tile was cleaned at no cost to us by Zeroez SoCal on behalf of Mamavation to facilitate this review. We did however pay to have our kitchen counter tops cleaned. All opinions and photos are ours (with the exception of the Zeroez SoCal Ambassador banner) and may not be used without written permission.
