I don’t really remember my first day of school. I remember nap time and recess on the playground with my friend Diane (50 years later and we’re still dear friends!) but that’s about it for my primary school memories. I do however remember the first day each of my children went to kindergarten. I remember it vividly. I dressed them in their brand new school clothes. Handed them their very first school lunch in their new lunch box. And then I walked them out the door to the bus … camera in hand. (And that was long before digital cameras!)

This year is a pretty dang special Back To School year for our family. Special as in big. Monumental. Exciting! All three of our grandchildren started the new school year last week. Our youngest and only grand daughter started kindergarten. According to her, she’s all grown up and ready to take on the world school! She’s actually been awaiting this day for several years as she’s watched her brothers go off to school. Honestly? I cannot believe the day has arrived. I only hope the school is ready for the little whirlwind we call Kennedy!
Her older brother Cody is in 2nd grade. While he is as excited about the new year as she is, he’s also happy to see his school pals again. It will be interesting to see how these two siblings interact together on campus. I imagine Cody will be quite protective of his little sister. Because that is how Cody is, very caring and compassionate. He’s a treasure and quite the friend!

I can’t believe how big they’re all getting . . . especially Kennedy! Hope they had a great first day!
