I remember well the very first show I saw on Broadway. NY took me to see Les Miserables. I dressed up and wore a new black cashmere coat. I sat in awe on the front row of the mezenine as the story of Jean Valjean played out before me. When the curtain came down and before the second act, we walked out in front of the theater for a bit of fresh air. It was then that my cell phone rang. My eldest son was on the other end asking if we could babysit our grandson … that night! Excitedly I told Brian we weren’t available because we were in New York City AND I was attending my very first Broadway show. On Broadway! Then … to NY’s mortification … I exclaimed, “It’s halftime!” (NY quietly explained to me it was actually intermission.)
That was my first Broadway show experience. It didn’t matter how my hair looked, how dressed up I was or even that I was wearing my new cashmere coat. I was a newbie! I’ve come a long way since that cold and exciting night. I love NYC (and NY) and I have deeper appreciation for Broadway. (For those that my not know, NY is my nick name for my husband)
I was in heaven the moment Georgia Stitt and Susan Egan walked onto the stage on conference day of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I think what I tweeted says it all: “I feel as if I’m sitting in a theater filled with my closest friends watching a Broadway show!!!”

Georgia (pictured on the above left) is a talented musician, composer and song writer. Her music has been performed by some of Broadway’s top performers. The next time I’m in NYC I’m hoping I can see some of her work! Georgia is delightful and was wearing a killer purple dress! She didn’t hestitate to interact with us … on Twitter … while she was on stage! Her incredible books and sheet music are available on Amazon.
Is was obvious from the get go that Georgia and Susan (pictured on the above right) are the best of friends. They perform together, they were each pregnant with their second daughters at the same time, and they simply go together. As Forest Gump would say: ‘like peas and carrots!’
I recognized Susan’s voice the moment she started singing. I’ve heard it many times, I just didn’t realize it was her. Susan is the original Belle from Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast. She’s also the voice of Meg in Disney’s Hercules. Susan is the voice in many Disney movies, all of which I’ve watched recently with my grandchildren.
Her resume is long and impressive and her voice often rings out in our home. Now, if I could find a recording of her singing “Nina Doesn’t Care” I’d be in music heaven! Susan didn’t actually have a Twitter account until just recently, but you can find her on Twitter now @iamsusanegan !
Susan sang Beauty and the Beast while Georgia played the piano.

The modest fee included a room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Park Hopper tickets and extraordinary events and family dinner parties. There was no requirement to blog about the conference or the events. All the excitement and opinions are 100% mine! Affiliate link included.
