There have been big changes taking place at the Disneyland Resort. The most visible are those at Disney California Adventure. The newly remodeled entrance is reminicent of the Pan Pacific Auditorium and is just the beginning of a step back in time. Soon we’ll be seeing what Walt Disney himself saw when he first arrived in Los Angeles during the 1920’s.
As changes take place some favorite sights may be gone. Like the California Zephyr that was located between the entrance and Soarin’ Over California.
Many of us have used the Zephyr as good photo opportunity. I know we have!
We took this photo in February 2011 not knowing it would soon be an irreplaceable treasure. I have always been intriqued with the little door smack dab in center front of the train. (I’ve secretly wanted to open that door to see what’s inside.)
The California Zephyr is no longer at Disney California Adventure. Disneyland Resort has however, generously donated it to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California. The museum has plans in the works for a gallery that will contain the Zephyr along with other related items from California Adventure. How cool is that? I personally enjoy train museums. I can always see the history of the trains and the passengers coming to life before me. It’s magical!
Traveling the United States by passenger train is actually on my ‘bucket list’. But for now, I have a bit of Disney history in my photo album.
No compensation was received for this post.We have a deep love for the Disneyland Resort and wanted to share.

Have you been on the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to the Bay Area? It is a beautiful ride that gives riders a taste of Amtrak’s long-distance service in a single day.

I’ve not been on the Coast Starlight. I’m definitely going to check it out. There’s just something intriguing about train travel.
Thanks so much for the heads up!!
