Last week I was lucky enough to attend the Disney Social Media Moms conference. It was an incredible, amazing and truly once in a lifetime opportunity. From the moment we entered the gates of the Walt Disney World complex it was simply magical! Every single day there were events and private parties that made my head spin with delight. I can honestly say I felt like a princess the entire conference.
The first of many events was the Disney’s Wedding & Honeymoon Platinum Soiree (pronounced swore – a). When we arrived we donned Minnie Mouse bridal veil ears and filled little boxes with an array of delectable sweets. Candy buffets are a new and popular addition to wedding receptions and this particular one was incredible. The candy buffet was the first of many surprises at the Platinum Soiree. It was the beginning of a memorable night filled with sparkling cider or champagne served in crystal flutes on silver platters, wedding cake, wedding dresses and amazing guest speakers.
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons can make dreams of brides everywhere come true. We were able to tour Franck’s Bridal Studio and view gorgeous wedding cakes and floral arrangements. After all … simple touches can help make a wedding a dream come true!
Everywhere we looked the view was lovely. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the Wedding Pavilion were simply magical! After the reception we were escorted into the Wedding Pavilion where Korri McFann Spolar was the first to speak to us. She’s the Worldwide Marketing and Business Development Director for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons. Korri shared a lot of exciting information about Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons 20th Platinum Anniversary. Michael Shettel, Vice President of Design, Alfred Angelo spoke to us about the Fairy Tale Wedding Gowns.
The Ariel,
the Snow White, and the Tiana. We were also given the opportunity to be the first to see the new Cinderella Wedding Gown.
The gown is beautiful and truly looks as if it stepped right out of a fairy tale!
Carly Roney, Co-founder & Editor in Chief, The Knot Inc, and a leading wedding & lifestyle expert, shared inspiring and sensible advice. Call me sheltered but I was stunned to hear that the average wedding in Manhattan costs $71,000. Um … Wow!
I think the biggest surprise was when David Tutera, Celebrity Planner & Host of My Fair Wedding entered the pavilion. He was fabulous! I loved how he walked up and down the aisle interacting with the audience all the while filling our thoughts and minds with wedding fantasies. He shared his excitement with the 2011 wedding color: RED! How fun and romantic is that?
In one of his upcoming My Fair Wedding segments he’ll grant a young man’s Make a Wish desire. Hometown members will come together with David to give the young man’s mother the wedding of her dream. I can’t wait to watch it all unfold!
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons is all about making dreams come true. While we were seated in the Wedding Pavilion our dream of seeing a fairy tale wedding came true when the doors opened and four beautiful brides maids came dancing down the aisle. Dancing! It was magical and entertaining!
The bride followed, moving to the beat her bride’s maids set. She and her handsome groom had actually had their own Disney Fairy Tale wedding two years ago. We were able to witness as they renewed their vows.
Whether you choose to have your Disney Fairy Tale Wedding in California, Florida, Hawaii or even on a Disney cruise ship, the pixie dust adds the magical touch that makes all your dreams come true! The entire time I wanted to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. But even if I was, I was glad my good friends Debra (A Frugal Friend), Beth (The Angel Forever) and Christina (Cutest Kid Ever) were by my side. After all … it’s always good to dream with friends!
I paid a modest fee to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Conference. The modest fee included a room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Park Hopper tickets and extraordinary events and family dinner parties. There was no requirement to blog about the conference or the events. All the excitement and opinions are 100% mine! Thank you to the Disney Social Media Moms organizers!!

I was surprised by the $71,000 figure too. I think my entire wedding was under $1,000! 😉

Hah! My wedding cost about $25 and we didn’t even take a honeymoon. NOt exactly a fantasy event.
