We have a big huge family event in just about two weeks.
Our nephew is getting married and the wedding reception will be at our home. We’re excited about hosting such a special event, however we’re also a bit anxious about getting our house ‘guest ready.’ Not only will we be hosting the wedding reception, but we’ll also be hosting a large number (twelve!) of relatives for 5 days prior to the actual event.
Our upstairs guest bathroom has been semi decorated since the grandkids were toddlers. We had collector prints from Finding Nemo hanging above the towel rack. There were also brightly colored wall decals which over time began to peel off a bit. (Little fingers at work!) The orange and blue frog with his accompanying leaves were the only exceptions. (Above little finger level.) The hand towel stand on the sink rarely held a towel. It was much easier for the grands to simply toss the towel on the counter.
So we’ve decided to take our upcoming ‘Bed & Breakfast’ opportunity to get our upstairs bathroom guest-ready.
After a good cleaning, which included washing the window valances, we removed the wall decals and Finding Nemo prints. We also replaced the brightly striped towels with a muted green towel set. We love to have fresh flowers in our guest rooms and the guest bath is no exception. It’s an easy addition that lovingly welcomes guests.
With the new color theme I decided to hang our black framed print of When Pigs Fly above the towel rack. It happens to be one of my favorite pieces of artwork. It’s a great conversation piece and I figured it might give anyone ‘sitting around’ in the bathroom a good chuckle.
We added a clear foaming hand soap dispenser. I love the clear style along with the fact that it saves money by diluting the soap and making it go further. There are samples of bath soaps, bath salts and toothpaste on the counter for the use and enjoyment of our visitors.
