Yesterday we went to the LA County Fair. It was my first time and I was over the top excited about it. As we were approaching the fairgrounds, NY began to share his memories of going to the Fair every year as a child. His mom would load all the kids in the car along with a neighbor and her kids. They’d spent the day walking the fairgrounds, eating and riding the plethora of carnival rides.
As I listened to his childhood memories, my anticipation grew along with my hunger!
The first thing we did was walk about taking in the delicious scent of anything and everything fried, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue, ice cream in waffle cones and … baked potatoes and roasted corn on the cob. Guess what we choose for lunch? Yep! We shared one of those huge baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Oh were they good! Absolutely fabulous I tell you!
The LA County Fair is chock full of exhibits. We especially liked Heritage Square where we stepped back to a time, when going to town included a visit to the general store and the blacksmith and of course a little red school house.
There are hundred’s of shop to browse in the Shopping Place where you can also see dozens of demonstrations for kitchen machines to cleaning machines. You can enjoy Western Days and Rodeo Nights in Fairview Farms. There’s Kids’ Zone where the little kids will fly through the sky on rides just for them. Teens and adults will want to hang out on the bigger attractions in the Carnival.
We personally enjoy the Outdoor Living exhibits along with the Home & Garden shows. And something we’ve not seen at other fairs is the Fine Art exhibit. Lovely!
