I struggled a bit with this week’s theme. I thought about the ‘bright’ sun shining through the branches of a tree and beautiful ‘bright’ sunsets.
Then I remembered how I am squinting in every photo of me as a child where I am outside in the ‘bright’ sunlight.
Lake Michigan – 1957
The sun always had to be behind the camera.
Muskegon, Michigan – 1957
This of course put the sunlight in my eyes.
Somewhere between Michigan and California – 1958
Even on a chilly day in the mountains.
Santa’s Village – 1959
This spot under the banana tree was always a sunny photo op.
San Diego – 1959
Same day. Is it as sunny in the front yard?
Anyone remember the mailboxes on street corners?
Easter – 1960
It didn’t get any better as I grew older.
San Diego – July 1976
I did learn to wear hats.
Palm Springs – 1985
The wind in my hair and the sun in my eyes!
San Diego – 2000
Aha! Sunglasses!
Kevin and Darlene and me.
Jamaica – 2000

lol it was always the same eye that shut when you were younger too. I don’t even think about the sun or where its at when I take a picture

Got some chuckles here! And I absolutely love looking at old photos…not only to see the person back when, but the landscape too. By the way, I hardly ever have a picture taken without my eyes being closed…

I love these pictures!
I’m a few years older (born in 1952), but I recognize the times of the photos.
Thanks for sharing.

I had to laugh because I’m a squinter too. I just don’t do well with bright sun in my eyes…and they always seem to water too!
Take care and have a great weekend!

Cool selection of bright shots. And as a suggestion to a fellow photographer – no, the sun doesn’t necessarily have to be behind the camera. Hint – fill-in flash.
Have a great weekend!
