We recently spent three days in Torrance, California, and had the most delightful time. Our home away from home was the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to see and do, and could not have been more convenient.
Marriott is one of our favorite hotels. First and foremost for us: Marriott uses unscented laundry products. I have MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) and have a severe reaction when exposed to most all scents and chemicals. We’ve have good luck at Marriott, and their Torrance location is no exception. The Torrance Marriott is the proud recipient of an Energy Star rating by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). That, along with the entire hotel having a smoke-free policy, is totally awesome!
Full disclosure —> The room we originally received had a problem with the commode working properly. The front desk sent up matenience, but it was unable to be fixed in a timely manner. The next room we were offered was on a floor where the carpet had been cleaned the day before. Needless to say, my MCS went into high alert. We were offered another room, but whomever stayed there before us wore a whole lot of cologne; men’s cologne. (My mother worked her entire life in the fashion industry. Ask me what she taught me, at a very young age, about how to wear perfume/cologne).
The last room we were offered worked out perfectly. The front desk staff was patient and understanding and could not have been more accommodating. They were eager to assist and were nothing short of awesome!
We thought we’d walk you through the Torrance Marriott and share some of our favorite features.
The Torrance Marriott has a large comfortable lobby that offers several intimate seating areas. There’s also a beverage bar as well as a Starbucks. 21 Square, the in-house restaurant is on the lobby floor offering inside, patio and garden seating.
In addition to the various seating areas, there are also 41,000 square feet of meeting space with twenty different venues ranging in size. With the enormous amount of space to accommodate large and small groups, I have to say our experience still felt intimate and personalized.
Spacious, well lit hallways.
I fell head over heels in love with the brightly colored carpet in the hallways. And how fun is this vintage inspired in-house phone located outside the elevator on each floor?
One of my favorite things on the planet is traveling with this guy. He makes my heart sing happy tunes.
Our room was brightly lit with natural sunlight streaming in through the large windows. I love natural sunlight!
Our room provided everything we needed, including a warm, personalized welcome. And room service!
The view at night was quite spectacular! The Del Amo Fashion Center is located directly across from the Marriott. It couldn’t have been more convenient for shopping, dining, and even catching a movie at the multiplex theaters.
The outdoor seating for 21 Square is ample and warmed with a huge fire pit and outdoor heaters.
The pool area was well lit at night …
… and sunlit by day! Take a look at the swimming pool. It’s huge, I tell you!
There are a lot of comfortable seating and lounging areas. There’s also a spa/hot tub/jacuzzi for warming up on chilly nights and days.
Oversized chess, anyone?
Just think of the fun to be had with the swinging chairs, cabanas, bigger-than-life games, and comfy hammocks. The 21 Square waitstaff takes good care of guests lounging in the sun and playing games. It doesn’t get much better than that!
So… when on business, holiday, or on a staycation in the South Bay area, consider letting Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach make your stay the best!
