Congratulations to our winner #28 Christine!!
One of my favorite things about working in the school district was my time spent in kindergarten. I loved being with little ones who came to school excited and eager to learn new things every single day. I worked with a lot of teachers who had different styles of teaching. Each one had a way of instilling a bit of fun in the learning process. They all had a deep love for teaching and their students.
One such teacher introduced me to the Zoo-Phonics program. She was the last kindergarten teacher I worked with before I moved to assist in first grade. The kindergartens were over the top excited about acting out the animal letters (“Cast of Characters”).
With Zoo-phonics children learn the letters of the alphabet and expand their vocabulary of animal names. That’s what makes it fun! In fact the Zoo-phonics motto is “Keep it light and make it fun!”
Children can identify with animals easier than with letters. They recognize the animal which never changes. For instance: A bear is a bear and will always be a bear. The letter ‘B’ on the other hand can be a ‘b’, ‘d’, ‘p’ or ‘q’ depending how you look at it.
The Zoo-phonics system is a whole-brain approach to learning. They see the letter with their eyes, listen to the sound with their ears, sound it out with their mouths and act it out with their body.
The letter A is represented by “allie alligator” with arms extended in front of the body opening and closing like an aliigator’s mouth. B is “bubba bear” who reaches up into the air as if he’s getting honey from a tree.
I believe Zoo-phonics to be an excellent program that helps children prepare for kindergarten or supplement their education at home. All children, even brothers and sisters, learn and develop at their own pace. Some like learning and some … not as much. But Zoo-phonics makes learning fun. For kids and for parents. Zoo-phonics also has a satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not 100% impressed with Zoo-phonics, send it back within three months for a refund.

I’d like to get this for my son. He has speech and sensory processing issues and I think learning to read with be challenging for him. I’d also like to I introduce his teacher to it as she has never seen it before. I am a former teacher who has used the Spanish version before. Thank you.

The Zoo Phonics cards would be used with my home bound autistic student. He only knows the letters in his name and I think he is read to move on. These would be a great help. Thanks.
