This week we took our three grandchildren to the circus. We had a wonderful times watching three rings of action packed thrills. I enjoyed the elephants the most while our grand daughter liked the zebras.
When we arrived at the arena we noticed there were animal activists with picket signs. We had a short discussion explaining what the picket signs were about. Our youngest grandson is very compassionate and easily upset so we thought it best to avoid the picketers and go directly into the circus. Our grand daughter was sleeping through the “picketing” conversation. But as soon as she woke our youngest grandson exclaimed, “This is very important! You need to stay away from the ‘pickers’!” We laughed at his interpretation.
Have you been to the circus? How do you feel about circus animals? What about picketers?

Geez, you guys are going to all the cool places! First Disneyland, now the circus? Lucky grand kids! 🙂
I have been to the circus a handful of times, but because I always get a guilty, niggling feeling when I go, I avoid it now. What happens is I’ll start thinking about the animals, which always makes me think of “Dumbo” and his mom, and then I get sad. I hate feeling like that about the animals! 🙁
In any case, I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, especially the kiddos! Happy Friday!

We’re big Disneyland fans along with our extended family. We’ll get a text message from a brother or sister saying it’s a Disneyland day and…if we can we all meet up. We actually see everyone at Disneyland more than at our houses. NY and his brother are actually past cast members. ;D We feel very lucky to live close to our grandchildren and have the opportunity to do things with them. Pretty soon they’ll be teens and loose interest in us. 🙁
Happy Aloha Friday!!

We have been to the circus a couple times. I have mixed feelings about it – I do feel guilty and worry that maybe the animals are mistreated. And, I have a weird phobia of clowns. I know it’s terrible but I just always feel like they are perverted old men who reek of alcohol (I know that’s irrational of me and I shouldn’t think that but I can’t help it). But, the times that we went, the kids enjoyed the show and it was a fun atmosphere.

I know exactly how you feel!! The clown were funny though and the kids liked them. The animals seemed well treated and they were definitely eager to perform. ;D

I’ve never been to the circus, I don’t enjoy large crowds, it has nothing to do with the animals. I fear strange looking people more. Sorry, my computer made me say that…
Cathi says
No apologies necessary!! I don’t care for crowds at all. We arrive early and wait until the arena pretty much emptied before leaving. Then we waited until the crowd left the parking lot. LOL

I’ve never been, but have always wanted to go to the Circus – how fun that you took the grandkids!

The grands all had a great time! Although our grand daughter was sleeping when we stopped for dinner so she kind of ate her way through the entertainment with circus food. LOL

It has been years since I have been to the circus. I really can not remember. However I do like the Elephants.

The elephants are magnificent! We love to sit and watch them at the San Diego Safari Park too.

We just went to the circus the other day. It was my first time and first time for the kids too.
The animals were great, nothing abusive in any manner.
I didn’t see any picketers.

I have been to the circus…I haven’t been there for a long time though. There were never picketers when I went….and I just hope they treat the animals properly.

I don’t remember ever going to a circus. We don’t have many here in Hawaii, however, I remember years ago when one of the elephants got loose and was running through downtown Honolulu!
