Some years back, David and I had the privilege of meeting the extraordinary Jaime Jenkins. At that time Jaime had already begun her fight with cancer: stage 4 breast cancer. And she had already won that fight. It was the first of many more battles with cancer to be fought. But through it all Jaime was known for choosing joy over adversity.
Last week Jaime ultimately lost the fight. Cancer took her life. But, because of her faith in Jesus Christ, and because of the lessons she learned and lived and taught her children and all of us, we believe she ultimately won.
Jaime was a ball of positive energy. She loved life and truly lived it to the fullest. Always smiling. Always laughing. Always referring to herself as “the luckiest girl ever.”
She fought cancer fiercely. In all my years I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who fought quite like Jaime did. She fought for her children. She fought for her family.
Tomorrow Jaime’s family and friends will celebrate her life; a celebration of a valiant daughter of God who was and always will be an example of choosing joy over adversity.
Choosing joy … even IN adversity.
