Counting Blessings is Better than Recounting Problems
~ Russell M. Nelson
I think it’s easy for us to be overwhelmed with the everyday problems in our lives. Add a traumatic life-changing event or a pandemic and we may very well be sitting in the middle of our very own pity party. I know it happens. I’ve seen it in others and I’ve had more than a few of my own private parties.
But I believe with all my heart that our blessings out number our problems. I believe if we can take pause to count our blessings, even in the midst of frustration, anger, mourning or whatever life throws at us, the windows of heaven will open and pour understanding and comfort down on us.
May we all follow President Nelson’s advise and concentrate on counting our blessings instead of dwelling on our problems.
“Counting our blessings is far better than recounting our problems. No matter our situation, showing gratitude for our privileges is a fast-acting and longlasting spiritual prescription. Does gratitude spare us from sorrow, sadness, grief, and pain? No, but it does soothe our feelings. It provides us with a greater perspective on the very purpose and joy of life.” — Russell M. Nelson
