I believe books to be magical. The words that fill the pages can take anyone, regardless of age, to another time and another place. We can experience things we’ve never actually had the chance to see or do. We can be tall in stature even if we’re but wee in real life. Magic I tell you! Books are magical.
I’ve always been a reader of books. So has my son Brian. Now, the next generation, Brian’s children, my grandchildren, are book readers as well. Some of our oldest grandson’s favorites are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Austin’s one of those kids that HAS to have something to read if he’s not running about with a basketball or football. He’ll grab any book within reach before jumping in the car to occupy his love of reading. Even it’s it’s only a 5-minute car ride. And now his brother and sister are following his example. They love books. And that is a good thing.
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is hysterical. Right down to the comical illustrations. I’ve enjoyed reading the new addition to the series, The Third Wheel. Author, Jeff Kinney, has a sense of humor and an uncanny way of connecting with the younger generation. Jeff published his first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in 1998. And his talent goes beyond writing! He also draws all the illustrations. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are entertaining and fun. There are funny drawings on each page that will keep the attention of both younger and older children. The brilliant illustrations bring the life of Wimpy Kid Greg Heffley to life with every turn of a page. The magic of books!
The story in Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Third Wheel revolves around the Valentine’s Day dance at Greg Heffley’s middle school. Afraid that he’ll be the only kid standing alone at the dance, Greg is scrambling to find a date. When he finds out that his best friend, Rowley, doesn’t have a date either, Greg feels a little bit better. Then an unexpected twist gives Greg a date that leaves Rowley as “the third wheel”. But you never know what can happen and just exactly who will be the lucky one in love! Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Third Wheel is sure to be a hit with middle schoolers and those who dream or still think about middle school.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are available wherever books and e-books are sold. The MSRP is $13.95 but Amazon has it on sale right now for $7.50. The Wimpy Kid books are now available as Wimp-E-Books on Amazon too!
Do you have an avid young reader in your life? Someone who is a fan of the Wimpy Kid books?
