There’s a new show at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. And it’s all about the Queen. Long may she reign at Medieval Times!
For over thirty years Medieval Times has been hosting live action dinner shows. Housed in an 11th-century like castle, the spectacular display of a bygone era has always been exciting to behold. Until recently though, the King ruled the kingdom. His reign is now history.
Now it’s all about the Queen! She’s charming, compassionate, and adores her subjects. She rules with fairness but at the same time with a firm hand. She invites you to join her at her castle to experience the tournament and enjoy an awesome feast!
As you enter the outer castle you’re given a crown and assigned one of several colors that represents your knight; the knight you’ll be cheering for. And cheer you will! You’ll find yourself wanting him to win more so than you ever thought you might.
As you choose a seat in your color designated area, keep in mind you’ll want to scope out the entire arena. Pay close attention to the elevated throne area where the Queen oversees the action and games. Just below her is the passageway where tournament participants enter and exit the arena. We chose the Queen’s Royalty VIP package, which was awesome, with excellent front row seating. While maybe not the best vantage point for taking photos (the protective barriers do their intended job quite well), you can’t get any closer to all the action. Unless, of course you were on horseback yourself defending your life and honor! We’d definitely choose the Queen’s Royalty option again.
Bring a hearty appetite because you’re in for a feast! You’ll dine on tomato bisque soup (aka dragon’s blood!), garlic bread, roasted chicken, sweet buttered corn, herb-basted potato, pastry of the castle (we enjoyed delicious moist pound cake), beverages of your choice, including coffee. Adult beverages are available for purchase.
There’s also a vegetarian option. Let your server know if vegetarian is what you’d like and you’ll dine on delicious hummus, warm pita bread, carrot and celery sticks, three-bean stew with fire roasted tomato and brown rice, fresh fruit or Italian ice, along with your beverage of choice.
So, are you ready to be transported back in time and enjoy a medieval feast with royal treatment?
Medieval Times Master of Ceremonies keeps you well-informed as the tournament unfolds.
The art of falconry is on full display! Falcons are known for their high inflight speed and ability to change direction rapidly.
Medieval Times: “In myth and in legend, the Knight and the horse are forever linked. Few things are held in such great esteem by the Medieval warrior than a stalwart horse, who possesses the bold courage of his master and the quiet strength of his ancestors.”
The horses are gorgeous and know how to perform, much to the delight of the royal guests. A fact we weren’t aware of: the horses are born, raised and trained at Medieval Times’ Chapel Creek Ranch. Fortunate are the horses that grow up with Medieval Times. And when the time comes for a horse to leave the castle, they head back to where it all started for them at Chapel Creek Ranch. They live out their later years in the serene setting, in well deserved retirement.

The tournament games are both exciting and suspenseful. And, after all, you want your knight to WIN!
There’s jousting on horseback, hand to hand combat on horseback as well as on foot. In the end, only one knight can be victorious. You hope it will be yours! But, per chance not, you still find yourself cheering for the ultimate victor.
The Black and White Knight represented our enthusiastic section.
Each knight periodically throws flowers throughout the show, to the delight of little princesses in the audience. We’ve been to Medieval Times several times and enjoy this knightly ritual. At a previous tournament our little Princess Kennedy received a flower from the Black and White Knight. You can see Kennedy’s excitement as she was being captured on video back then.
At this tournament, much to her delight, she received the banner presented from the Queen herself, by none other than our Black and White Knight!
Souvenirs are available to reenact the tournament experience and keep the games alive!
Shining armor really does shine!

If you haven’t been to Medieval Times, we highly recommend you make plans to go. If you have been, now is the time to take the trip back in time once again. You won’t be disappointed.
