We’re honored to be part of the 2018 Knott’s Berry Farm #BerryBloggers program. This blog post is part of our partnership with Knott’s Berry Farm.
Knott’s Berry Farm is an amazing family amusement park. While the food is fabulous and the rides thrilling, the seasonal activities are exceptional. From the Boysenberry Festival to Ghost Twin Alive!, to Knotts Spooky Farm, there’s always a season of extra special activities happening.
And now, during October, the famous and ever-popular Knott’s Scary Farm is scaring up a storm! With a thousand monsters running amuck and lurking about, and 14 different mazes, Scary Farm is waiting to give you the fright of your life! But as popular as it is, Scary Farm isn’t for everyone. It’s not for scaredy cats like me. And it’s definitely not for very young children.
So that’s what Knott’s Spooky Farm is all about! Kids!!
Specifically children ages 3 to 11. However, kids of ALL ages will love Spooky Farm. We took our teenage grandson and his friend, who immediately went off to do their own thing. And still, we grandparents had a great spooky time.
Knott’s Berry Farm goes above and beyond with decorations. There’s scary, spooky and good old fashion beautiful decor throughout the park. Knott’s really knows how to dress up the park for Halloween!
Be sure and check the Knott’s Berry Farm entertainment schedule for the day you’ll be attending. You’ll want to plan your day around the many ‘spooktacular’ shows that are avaiable on select days and times.
You don’t want to miss ‘The Monsters are Coming Charlie Brown’ stage production in Camp Snoopy. The Peanuts gang sings and dances to favorite Halloween songs like ‘Monster Mash’ and ‘Witch Doctor.’ But it’s watching them dance to ‘Thriller,’ complete with moon walking, that will make you want to stand up and cheer!
Later in the day head back to the Camp Snoopy stage for the Costume Contest. Just imagine bunches of little dressed up kiddos parading in their Halloween costumes. Absolutely adorable!
Newly expanded Trick-or-Treating is now throughout Ghost Town. Your little ghouls and goblins can stop at various places throughout Calico to collect sweet Halloween treats from ghostly looking towns folk. We enjoyed watching the littles, sometimes apprehensively approaching the ‘ghosts.’ Anticipating a sweet treat gives them extra courage. They were not disappointed and quite often carried on a conversation with the candy givers.
Have I mentioned how much I adore pumpkins?
Linus Van Pelt’s Great Pumpkin Patch has taken over Calico Town Square. The giant pumpkin patch on the stage is a perfect photo opportunity for the whole family. There are also booths with homemade harvest and Halloween items, and gifts you can purchase. You’ll also be serenaded by the musical Creepy Crooners!
The kiddos will have the best time decorating cookies, decorating pumpkins and painting their very own, very festive wooden pumpkin! (Nominal fees apply.)
Do not miss the opportunity to take the kiddos to the Saloon for an ice cold sassparella. It may be their very first taste of one! There are fun Halloween-themed shows for Spooky Farm including Mysto The Slightly Magnificent. In reality, Mysto is more than slightly magnificent! This friendly magician’s magic tricks will amaze you and the kiddos. Prepare to be spell-bound! There’s a bit of audience participation, so arrive early to get a good seat.
The Birdcage Theatre is always a favorite for our family. Our grandchildren love the seasonal vaudeville productions. Even our teenage grandsons loved Spooky Story Time. Arrive early to once again get a seat up front. Especially if you have a little one, or more, that love to participate. Sit back, relax and have a good time watching the spooky Halloween tale told by the very funny and multi-talented storytellers.
During Spooky Farm it’s all about the Creepy Critters of Calico. You’ll see some of the regular residents like Skelator; that is, the horse masquerading as a skeleton!
The Livery Stables are always exciting and educational and always a family favorite for us. You may be greeted by a spoons playing scarecrow who is more than a little entertaining.
But there’s also a plethora of spooky critters hanging out for Spooky Farm. Our grandson Cody was fascinated by the huge tortoises. But not all that thrilled with the big rats running loose in the rat village. There are bunches of creepy crawlies on display, along with a whole lot of spiders.
The Halloween Hootenanny returns as The Timber Mountain Log Ride transforms with spooky, but family-friendly surprises. Our teen grandson and his friend LOVED all the spooky (but family friendly) characters throughout the ride. We were over the top impressed with the Halloween theme both inside and outside as the log ride came careening down the mountain.
Another attraction all dressed up for Spooky Farm is the Grand Sierra Railroad. It’s loaded with spooky surprises as it takes you on a trip to Camp Snoopy.
Don’t forget the many and varied photo opps available. They’re all over the park including some scary ones around the new Forsaken Lake area. (Situated behind Sierra Sidewinder and below Silver Bullet.)
And, of course, there’s always the ageless saloon girls photo op.
Remember I mentioned that our teen grandson and his buddy took off on their own? That left us on our own and we had a wonderful time. While Spooky Farm is geared with little ones in mind, it’s also entertaining with endless fun for all ages. We even took advantage of the gorgeous harvest decor for a couple selfie!

What an absolutely great time this looks like this would be! I’d go just to see all those lovely displays but it looks like they have enough things to keep a family busy for the whole day. I love that they have sassparella and you are right in that many children have not gotten the opportunity to try that. What a fun post and thanks for sharing all those great photos.
Cathi says
You’re so welcome Grace!
There’s so much fun with the rides and all the entertainment.
We always get an ice cold bottle of sarsaparilla too. Our grandkids love it!
