Homework doesn’t necessarily end even though school might have! But what better way to learn something than by doing?! Studying is important but will only get you so far. Hands-on practice will help go a long way in developing the actual skills needed to be an accomplished photographer. The ten assignments are a great way to learn by doing.
Learn what your equipment is capable of and what limitaions to be aware of. Remember: “You’re smarter than you equipment!” Learn about lens choices that are suited to capture what you’d like. Getting to know your lenses is a very important step. Different lenses produce very different results.
Get a better understanding of apertures and shutter speeds. Assignment 6 has to do with mastering metering.
Section E: ‘Follow the light.’ To a photographer, lighting can be everything. “Our world revolves around light – how we see it, how we use it, how we manipulate it , and ultimately how we capture it.” Assignment 8 has to do with getting closer.
